Whitworth Locke

There wasn't really anything I could fault, it was cheaper and as well located as the hotels nearby, the atmosphere is great, the room has features you wouldn't find in a hotel (oven, washing machine, hob), the staff were helpful, and the cafe was well priced and served great food and coffee. I didn't try the restaurant or gym but I would imagine they're are equally worth using.

I stayed at the Whitworth Locke for a couple of nights as a city break to celebrate my birthday in Manchester. Check-in was quick and easy, my Locke Studio room was in the Johnson building so away from the main road. Vanessa (front desk) arranged for a surprise in my room for my birthday which was a nice touch. I usually stay at the Whitworth whenever I'm in Manchester and all the staff are always helpful. My room was clean and prepared for my arrival, the bed is very comfortable and the kitchen has all the essentials. Walk-in rainfall shower was as good as always. I met a friend for dinner at the on-site restaurant (Winsome) one evening and we had a lovely meal to celebrate my birthday. The food was excellent and we were looked after very well.

It was quite noisy - not sure if there was a party or something else going on, but there was a lot of running around the corridors and floors until about 3 a.m. While this might have been a one-off event, the floorboards and walls are very thin and you can easily hear people walking around on the hard floor. It really affected my sleep, so I’m not sure I’d stay here again.

Over the past seven years traveling to Manchester, I’ve never found anywhere with such perfect conditions for a good night’s sleep. The staff is simply amazing — every need and request was met, and my expectations were completely surpassed. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending this place to everyone!

Another fantastic stay here. It really is the best place in Manchester if you're looking to explore the city! The aesthetic (like all Locke sites) is really beautiful, every where is clean and stylish. The Front of House / host team are all wonderfully friendly and attentive (special mention to Lino who is a star!) and great to now have the options of the restaurant and coffee shop on-site too. Thank you for another brilliant visit!

The location is good, not far from the train station/shops/restaurants. The entrance has seating/bar/check in desks. A really nice bright area. The room was a good size. Staff were nice. There is a restaurant downstairs - best to book in advance if you want to go. Negatives - in the bathroom there is a shower above the bath. The bath is very narrow, so not the best. Would stay here again if back in Manchester.

When booking Whitworth Locke, we really didnt know what to expect as this is the first time we have stayed at this type of venue. From the moment we walked in, it blew our expectations away. The staff were so welcoming and really friendly, the accommodation - especially for the price - was amazing. Great setup, its a full apartment space, bed, kitchen, sofa, toilet and high pressure shower. Loved the modern industrial feel of the place and the bed was really comfy. One thing i would recommend, anyone who is going to for a local event and wants to get in full geish, take a bright light. Great location. Would love to return.

This was an excellent hotel in a wonderful location, cost effective without scraping on the luxuries. The staff were attentive and we were able to check in earlier which really handy for us Good all round and definitely would recommend

We originally booked for one night but extended to four nights due to Storm Amy. Our top-floor apartment was comfortable and fairly well laid out; we especially found the bed comfy and the bathroom large and modern (a problem with the shower was soon fixed). Self-catering was possible and there was a small supermarket directly opposite. This was just as well, because the hotel's breakfast offering was quite limited and not particularly good value (purchased separately); indeed, we thought the restaurant seemed very expensive and went elsewhere to eat in the evenings. The room rate also seemed expensive, but was comparable with the rate we recently paid in Edinburgh. The best thing about Whitworth Locke was undoubtedly its location. Right in the middle of Manchester, overlooking the Rochdale Canal, and within walking distance of the Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Oxford Road stations. We would certainly book again, for this reason.
