"3 lovely nights in Le petite Saunerie "

8.0

This is very quaint very French accommodation set right in the centre of the old town. The owner is very friendly and helpful and provides a great breakfast set on a large table seating about 8 for all the guests. This is not a hotel but a very different and enjoyable experience. We would definitely stay here again.

"Wonderful location..."

4.0

This B&B is very well situated, a few minutes walk to either Palais des Papes, supermarkets, Les Halles, main shopping strip and all the wonderful things Avignon has to offer. The rooms are housed within this beautiful old french building. Whilst each room is beautifully decorated and extremely spacious, as described by other travellers, for the price, what it offers is extremely basic and bare bones. To start with, inside the room, there is one big old wardrobe and within it some mangled wire hangers and dusty looking perfume bottles.. no minibar, no coffee maker, and not even a glass provided to hold a toothbrush.. The bathroom is newly renovated which was nice, there was a bottle of body wash and a bottle of shampoo in the shower, both of different sizes and half used (obviously left by the previous traveller) and a bottle of dust covered half used handwash... small details such as toothpaste/water stains around the faucet and on the mirror... There is family life "everywhere"... in the hallway, in the kitchen, in the living room... Whilst it is a novel idea to stay with an authentic french family, I had no idea it will be this way, it felt more like renting an AirBnB room in someone's house, rather than being in a proper B&B. I actually moved out of my AirBnB apartment to stay here as I thought I would 'indulge and treat myself', I found myself wishing I had stayed in my apartment instead. The entire time I felt like I was intruding on private family time.... hopefully the owners will take note to improve as this place has a lot of potential...

"Perfect location, authentic french family home"

6.0

We stayed at the La Petite Saunerie for two nights. The location is absolutely perfect. It is in the center of the historic district and only a 5 minute walk to the Palace of the Popes. Our room was absolutely gorgeous. The bed was comfortable and the room was spotless. The shower was fantastic. The toilet plumbing was loud and a little random in the timing of the noises it made. Our host was a pleasant french woman who greeted us with a smile. She spoke enough English, so we had no problems communicating. She was kind and attentive during breakfast. She made several excellent suggestions for sight seeing and restaurants. She has a young son that lives with her in the house. For the most part you would hardly know he was there. The common areas were available to guests according to the website, but the I felt like I would have been intruding on a family had I chosen to use the kitchen or the family room. Breakfast was adequate and served in the family dining room. But it was strictly continental. The homemade jams were very good, but if you prefer a savory breakfast this is not the place for you. It truly felt more like eating in a family home than a bed and breakfast. There were a few things that made it clear that some work is needed to understand the needs of travelers and typical bed and breakfasts. First of all we had to ask for toilet paper. The bathroom had only two towels, two bath mats and no wash cloths. There was not soap or toiletries, although the website indicated there were. There was no way available to make a cup of hot tea in the afternoon or evening. The rooms, although beautiful, were pretty bare bones when it came to the needs of travelers. The stairwells were cluttered and full of family life....not a bad thing for a home, but not appropriate for $150/per night accommodations. Finally, most B&B's provide room/bathroom cleaning and replenishing services. Not here. Make your own bed they won't. Hang up your towels...there won't be fresh ones. Overall this is a place with great potential. With a little TLC and attention to detail this home could be a top notch, luxury bed and breakfast. I would love to see this happen as this is a phenomenally beautiful property in an excellent location. In the hands of someone who truly understands international travels it would be stellar. It is currently additional income for a small family. This is not a bad thing, you just need to know before you book a room.

"Maison d'hôtes de charme à Avignon - maybe another room?"

8.0

La Petite Saunerie (B & B) is located in the heart of the old town, the hosts offer the insight into a two hundred year old town house, beautiful old rooms with a modern neat touch. Fantastic location, close to the main attractions, restaurants and the market. Advising and support by the hosts Anne-Liese and Vincent are accommodating and nice. The breakfast is homemade and prepared with love. A negative point was the room; we dreamed of one of these beautiful rooms with the tub in the room. Instead, we got the most unattractive parterre room, which was still nice, but not like the photo impressions on the website. Another note would be that there is no sign outside the inn. There are a number of ringing buttons on the right side in front of the door. But there is no location possible. After an orienteering and telephone contact, Anne-Lise came to pick us up at Place St. Pierre. We really liked Avignon - a city where cultural history and gastronomy meet Overall a very nice stay!

"3-Day Visit was not enough"

10.0

This very old B&B was an amazing discovery. Old building, huge heavy doors (with exterior keys and more keys to individual rooms), updated bathroom and a/c being installed. Kitchen/dining area up winding marble stairs and a breakfast offering that was amazing, even hot chocolate made from scratch. The innkeeper is delightful and so eager to help. Avignon is a maze of narrow streets and old, old buildings but there are wonderful discoveries to be found in addition to the usual historical sights. Visit was too short.

"Wonderful B&B--5 star location"

10.0

Staying here is like visiting your family--Anna was the perfect hostess. The locations is the best in Avignon-- the rooms were large, clean and very well taken care of. Bathrooms were all large and modern---very large shower. The breakfast were perfect--fresh fruit, homemade yogurt, fresh baked breads and pastries. This was perfect in every way--can't wait to return.

"Top location - another room maybe?"

8.0

The location is simply fantastic, you couldn’t ask for anything better! The breakfast is delicious, home made jams, yogurt and tons of different breads and brioches. The only negative point was the room: we were dreaming about one of those beautiful rooms with the tub in the room. Instead we were assigned the least pretty one, which was still nice but not the best. Overall a very nice stay!
