Wanderstay Houston Hostel

The bed was comfortable but lacked connection points. The bathroom had no amenities or even a place to put your own soap and shampoo had to put it on the floor. The bathroom rug was dirty. Area seemed secure but there was street closing nearby due to construction. There’s no way to adjust the ac in the room and ceiling fan has short pull downs I had to get on the only chair in the room to turn on/off fan.

I have stayed here before. It’s good value for the money. The bedrooms are on the second floor and the freeway traffic is very very loud all night long. They provide unlimited ear plugs, there are jars of them in every room… Use them.!!!!

My overall hostel experience was good, I recommend this hostel, they provided kitchen facilities and the staff managed the hostel very well.

Bit more bed headroom would have been nice.

The hostel was clean, and the staff was friendly. The number code was easy to use, and I had the Galveston Room to myself with a private bath. The only issue I had was that the hostel is not staffed during the night. I returned from the rehearsal dinner at 10:20 pm and there were weird noises in my bathroom. The floor was flooded and water was dripping down from the fan in the ceiling. I called the emergency number and the person who answered asked me to go to the washroom upstairs and check it out. The floor was flooded and the toilet was jammed and overflowing. They asked me to lock the washroom door so no one could come in. I turned off the water to the toilet first, so at least no more water would come down into my room. But they weren't going to address the issue until 8:30am the next day. Fortunately, I didn't have to shower before the afternoon and went on a long bike ride across town to museums and flea markets, but you can see that most people's travel plans would be compromised by that lack of staffing. Other than that, it was a pleasant stay. I was able to bring the eBike into my room to charge it at night. I was able to drop off my linen and towels and check out in the morning before the staff arrived. I felt totally safe in the neighborhood, even biking late at night, and walking in the pre-dawn hours from 7am until 8am. Mostly Houston feels deserted at those times. I came to Houston for three days/two nights for a wedding, and I ended up renting both a car and an eBike. Most of the events and sights downtown are totally accessible from the hostel by bike (in March it's not too hot), however, the main wedding venue was out on the other side of Lake Houston and the 3 day car rental was cheaper than the 3 day eBike and got me to the venue and from the airport and back. I strongly recommend the EaDo Bike Rental place. They are good people.

Very comfortable stay. Bunk beds were all full-sized mattresses in the room I stayed in, which was a bonus I had never seen. The bathroom was clean. Lockers were available for use but I did not see any locks, just so you know - maybe bring your own padlock if you want to use one. The location was convenient for me. Staff were friendly and allowed me to check in later in the evening with no issues. I would absolutely stay here again.

I like that the location was in a perfect area of Houston and it was secured with gate access and access to the door by keypad. It was nice on the inside. It was well kept up and it had great amenities.

I did not like the fact that when I placed my items in the lobby the day, I was checking out to go run some errands when I came back. It was not allowed access back into the building to get my things, but according to the work that I had to be brought up by her there were remnants of food particles in my bags, and they were obviously lighter than they were when I left them there and upon checking once I made it to my destination, there was several items missing from my bag that was left in a library where our camera was at even though that they like they said their policy is not responsible for what happened to my items. I would expect that because my items were left right by the workers desk And where cameras were available that they would just not allow anybody to walk by go through my things, but that was dead and now I’m having a difficulties with reaching somebody who works at the location so it’s extremely disheartening because I had a great experience while staying there. It was just again when I got ready to leave. My items were missing
