"A bargain for economy-minded travelers"

10.0

Very clean...economical. I have to travel to Houston twice a year for two days of treatment and a checkup at MD Anderson Cancer Center. All I want or need in the way of lodging is a clean bed, a clean bathroom and a quiet and secure night's sleep. Wanderstay meets ALL of my needs for about $60 a night. I stayed in the Galveston Island Room, which is a small private room with an en suite bathroom. It is basic, with a very comfortable full-size bunk bed, a table and chair, a locker, a private bathroom, air conditioning plus a ceiling fan, an oscillating fan and WIFI. Check-in was easy and convenient. For those looking for a bargain, this is it!

"Unsafe and Unpleasant Experience"

1.0

I had a very disappointing and distressing experience at this hostel. During my stay, a significant amount of cash was stolen from my bag, which I had securely stored in my bag. After noticing the theft, I found a pair of headphones—belonging to a staff member—left on my bed, right next to where my belongings were. This discovery strongly suggests staff involvement. I immediately reported the incident with all details to the local police and have filed an official report. I couldnt reach the hostel management to receive meaningful support or accountability. I booked this place expecting a safe and friendly environment, but I left feeling violated and anxious. I urge future travelers to take extra precautions with their belongings if they choose to stay here!

"Boutique Hotels for the WIN"

10.0

Had the best time with my BFF at this cozy and GORGEOUS hotel. I’ve never stayed in a boutique hotel before and didn’t know what to expect but I was very pleasantly surprised and impressed. I love that it’s adults only and you’re definitely treated as such. There’s a communal kitchen we used to cook breakfast, and the location was perfect for everything else. And the beds…ughhhh so soft and comfy. Will definitely stay again.

"An absolute disgrace."

1.0

I have nothing to say in this section. Nothing whatsoever.

I booked this hostel as it was one of not many hostel - type options in Houston. As a solo traveler, I prefer this as it's a great way to meet new people be flexible with your stays. I booked a few hours before arrival on booking.com, and advised an arrival time of 20:00-21:00, which was approved in a separate confirmation email from booking.com a few minutes after confirmation. After a long day with a flight and a 1-hour journey from the airport, I just needed to get some rest so was relieved when I finally arrived, albeit in a very poor location, next to a highway at the end of a dimly-lit dead-end road in what felt like the middle of nowhere. I went around the side and rang the doorbell as directed. No answer. I stood outside for the next ~25 minutes, repeatedly ringing the doorbell, shouting and banging on the gate. Maybe I wasn't heard because of the sound of the highway. I tried to phone them but the line kept going dead. I even resorted to emailing them on multiple email addresses, but absolutely nothing. In the end, I had to abandon the place as frankly it was obvious that no one was coming and the area felt very unsafe. I walked some distance, took a tram and checked into a hotel in a safer area. It is the most unacceptable and frankly dangerous experience I have ever had while travelling. It turns out that you are supposed to be emailed a code for the gate before arrival, which I never received, despite my booking and check-in time being confirmed. However there is nothing about this in the property description. Unless you have this code, DO NOT STAY HERE, and in any case the location is awful.
