Rua Beach Resort Sumba

Skvela lokalita, kuchyne od indoneske po italskou, majitel zajisti dopravu z letiste i ostatni sluzby, je-li potreba. Moc mily personal. Ubytovani je stranou shonu. Na plazi a na mole mistni koupou kone a rybari. Ovsem nikoliv jako atrakci pro turisty (jako to jiz na nekterych plazich na zapade Sumby je), ale proto, ze tam ziji a je to jejich rutina.

L'accueil particulièrement chaleureux et attentionné du tout nouveau manager italien polyglotte Santo, en poste depuis à peine quelques jours dans cet hôtel quand nous sommes arrivés (début juin 2026), et je tiens à souligner son extrême disponibilité, son dévouement, et sa bienveillance ! Toujours là pour anticiper ou répondre aux moindres questions et besoins de ses hôtes. Merci Santo ! L'emplacement directement sur la très grande plage de Rua est assez exceptionnel, d'autant qu'on y croise très peu de touristes, et bien plus de pêcheurs et de familles du coin, qui, à marée basse, y baignent même leurs très élégants petits chevaux. Les chambres / bungalows avec mini-terrasses et vue sur la mer. Les deux agréables piscines et la petite zone de plage privée. Le lobby en plein air très confortable et la jolie carte des plats, ainsi que la cuisine globalement très réussie ! Bravo aux cuisinières ! Des propositions d'excursions (payantes) avec chauffeur privé. Un PDF à l'arrivée qui vous raconte Sumba sous toutes ses coutures ! Par ailleurs, bon à savoir : l'hôtel a un second établissement juste un peu plus loin, 100 mètres en retrait de la plage, au rapport qualité-prix imbattable, pour ceux qui n'ont pas besoin de la vue sur la mer et sont habitués au confort "backpacker supérieur", (assez similaire à celui de l'hôtel de base finalement).

Il faut s'attendre à des chambres au confort et au mobilier simples, un peu vétuste ou dépareillé, au nettoyage correct mais pas franchement exceptionnel. En ce sens, j'ai trouvé le rapport qualité-prix un peu surfait (de mémoire environ 58 euros la nuit). Mais j'ai confiance dans la reprise en mains efficace de Santo sur tous les aspects matériels et fonctionnels de l'établissement pour lui redonner rapidement le lustre et la classe qu'il mérite ! NB : À titre personnel, je n'ai pas du tout apprécié les produits chimiques utilisés dans la chambre (genre insecticides ou détergents puissants et irritants pour moi) et je l'ai transmis. Et on a trouvé la formule petit-déjeuner un peu légère. Enfin, il faut savoir que le resort jouxte un tout petit village de pêcheurs, donc il peut y avoir des bruits de moteurs tôt le matin, mais bon... ça fait partie du folklore et de la vie locale ! Et pour info, attention : Sumba est une île où les transports avec chauffeurs sont chers, et c'est à prévoir dans le budget quand on séjourne dans une zone un peu isolée. Voilà voilà ! Mais un très chouette endroit dans l'ensemble !

Rua Beach was fantastic value for money. We stayed 3 nights- family of 4. Beautiful location on the beach- great to meet locals in the afternoon and play a game of soccer on the beach. The food in the restaurant for lunch and dinner was delicious - especially the curry and the pizza. The bungalows were simple, but comfortable and kept clean. Horses on the beach were a treat!

We were asked to leave an honest review whilst we stayed, so I genuinely hope this is received in the manner in which it is intended- to provide honest feedback with the purpose of only improving for future travellers and ensuring the sustainability of the resort. 1. The area around the pool and the stone area behind the restaurant needs a good clean with a pressure hose. It is slippery in the wet and makes the resort look tired. Scrub it clean and it will look amazing! The stone steps into the bungalows were also VERY slippery. 2. Install some fans in the restaurant area. Will keep bugs away and also cool it on still nights. 3. Provide some information about local spots to visit. Have an information booklet with prices of guides and cars. 4. Don't charge extra for guests to use a canoe/kayak. They are already old looking and 150 000 per hour was ridiculous. 5. You need stubby coolers! You cant have a cold Bintang without a cooler! 6. The breakfast needs addressing. Whilst the lunch and dinner menu were great, the breakfast was very overpriced and a bit ordinary. I write this with absolute respect for the staff - they just need to be guided! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would be happy to return. If I was lucky enough to own a property in Indonesia I would welcome and value feedback from guests so sincerely hope this is well received.

Staff were excellent — friendly and courteous. We received good advice and assistance hiring a car and driver to tour the nearby points of interest.

The resort is a little down-at-heel. Small things need repairs or replacement —bathroom lights and fittings, door lock, steps. Good breakfast but other dining options not so good.

Die Landschaft,

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, hiermit fordere ich eine Rückerstattung für unseren Aufenthalt auf Sumba, da die gebuchten und höherpreisigen Deluxe-Zimmer sowie der angebotene Service in keiner Weise dem beworbenen Standard entsprachen. Vom ersten Tag der Anreise bis zum Tag der Abreise kam es nahezu durchgehend zu erheblichen Mängeln. Besonders schwerwiegend war das dauerhaft fehlende warme Wasser. Nach Rücksprache mit dem zuständigen Manager wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass auch am letzten Tag unseres Aufenthalts kein warmes Wasser zur Verfügung stehen wird, da die Warmwasserversorgung aktuell nicht funktioniert und nicht rechtzeitig behoben werden kann. Dieser Mangel war dem Management somit bekannt. Zusätzlich waren die Deluxe-Zimmer stark unangenehm riechend, die Toiletten mehrfach verstopft und zeitweise kaum nutzbar. Diese Zustände sind für Deluxe-Zimmer absolut inakzeptabel. Ein weiterer gravierender Punkt betrifft den Zustand der elektrischen Installationen. Mehrere Lichtschalter hingen teilweise aus der Wand und funktionierten nicht ordnungsgemäß. Das Licht konnte an den vorgesehenen Schaltern nicht ausgeschaltet werden, sodass man gezwungen war, quer durch das dunkle Zimmer zu gehen, um eine andere Lichtquelle zu erreichen. Dabei habe ich mir den Zeh an der Bettkante gestoßen und mich verletzt. Dies stellt einen erheblichen Sicherheitsmangel dar. Aufgrund dieser Zustände wurden wir aufgefordert, das Zimmer zu wechseln. Dieser Zimmerwechsel führte zu zusätzlichem Stress, da unsere Koffer bereits vollständig ausgepackt waren. Trotz des Zimmerwechsels kam es jedoch zu keiner Verbesserung der Situation; die genannten Mängel bestanden weiterhin. Auch der Restaurant- und Servicebereich war mangelhaft. Am Silvesterabend mussten wir über zwei Stunden auf das Essen warten. Als es serviert wurde, war es teilweise kalt. Dieses Problem trat auch an weiteren Tagen auf. Darüber hinaus entsprach das Speisen- und Getränkeangebot nicht den Angaben auf den Menükarten.

The location is great - Rua Beach is beautiful, with locals fishing and bathing with their horses. The food was nice, and we were particularly positively surprised by the Italian dishes.

The aircondition did not work well. The shower did not have hot water. Cleaning could have been better. There is no wind on the property, and as all the communal areas are open-air, it was always very hot and humid.
