Swiss Cottage and Spa by Salvus

The location was nice, an easy walk into town.

When we arrived we went to our "cottage room." We originally booked this room because it looked like the foliage around the room would be lovely, with a private patio/deck, and a nice place to relax for a week. The room had a leaky shower (drip...drip...drip), and NO DRAIN in the bathroom!! What?! Where does the water from the shower go?? We never did find out. The incessant dripping caused us to ask for a different room. They did quickly give us a different room. Thank you! The new room itself was lovely with a back deck area. Lots of construction noise throughout the day, so we never got to enjoy it, but that's not their fault. On the last day there our room had NO WATER. We never did figure out what had happened, and at the time they did not understand what the issue was either. So we were moved to another room which was a little dingy and worn out. We were at this hotel for, I think, 6 nights. The woman at the front desk was a little rude, but we didn't really care about that much. At this time we had been traveling around India for 6 weeks and had stayed in a bunch of different places; this place had potential to be a really nice respite, but that didn't quite happen. Ah well, you can't win them all.

There was nothing to like. The stay could have been a nightmare if I had stayed. Looking at the property and location I quickly decided that this accommodation is not I should go with the family.

I suggest do not book this property even if they offer a room at 0 costs. The location is shady with steep climb, parking is a challenge. The rooms have no privacy. Images shown on booking websites are completely different. The staff is not at all helpful and friendly. Their only objective is to take the advance so that you are left with no option but to stay here. But imagine even I paid in advance I did not stayed in the property.

Plants were almost dry and shredded.., I wish if they could have more flowers and plants around property. Further lack of CCTV camera at corner premium balcony rooms and low wifi.

Didn’t like one single thing about this place. Stay Away from This Horrible Place!

Everything was the just worst. They can win the best worst stay at Rishikesh award. I cannot express how awful our experience at this property was. What should’ve been a simple stay turned into an absolute disaster. First off, no one bothered to mention the ridiculously steep climb to get to the location. It’s exhausting and frustrating, and we were completely unprepared for it. From the second we stepped into our room, it was obvious that cleanliness wasn’t even on their radar. The linens were disgusting, and despite asking them to change them, nothing was done. The area around the gate? Filthy. Housekeeping? A joke. They clearly don’t care about maintaining any standards. The Wi-Fi didn’t work for the entire duration of our stay, leaving us disconnected and frustrated. The reception staff were fake-friendly when we first got there, but by the end of the stay, they were uncooperative and completely dismissive. We actually thought about extending our stay, found a cheaper, better room on the same property, and asked about the price difference. Instead of giving us a straight answer, we got some nonsense that made it clear they had no idea what they were doing. Even though we decided to extend our stay at the same property. We even asked them to book the new room for us and explained that while it was being cleaned, we’d quickly freshen up in our old room, meaning we’d stay a little past our checkout time. so we thought everything was sorted. But when we finally decided to switch rooms, we returned to find the new room wasn’t even ready! After all the back and forth, it was the last straw. At that point, we just wanted to leave. We had our cat with us, and when we first arrived, Ms. Jyoti was perfectly fine with us leaving her at reception. But when we wanted to do it again on our departure day, suddenly she refused, claiming some dog nearby might bite her.

Location was quite good with beautiful views. Room was also peaceful, comfortable, organized and well decorated.

Some of the facilities were not available like TV was not working. Electric kettle was also not working. Washroom required pest control as lots of creepy insects were there in the bathroom. Mosquitos were also there in the room. Breakfast not included in the room tariff, however same was expected while booking the room with the amount they charged.
