"Spring Skiing and fine dining in a spectacular setting steeped in Tyrolean history"

10.0

This hotel is truly special. All the rooms are different, but every single one takes you back to a specific period in Austrian history. As a former hunting lodge of the Austrian aristocracy, the wood paneled "Fuerstenzimmer" (prince's room) showed pictures of Emperor Maximilian hunting and fishing in the Tyrolean Alps. Wood paneling and very comfortable beds, as well as all the modern amenities, e.g. Nespresso coffee machine, a selection of herbal teas and fresh fruit, made our time at the hotel very memorable. The copious breakfast and the five course dinners were always delicious and the "cheese cave" an extra treat. The heated "ski cellar" where you could dry your boots and gloves on special racks was an added bonus to the ski in ski out experience.

"A must on your bucket list"

10.0

This hotel is exceptional! Organisation from the moment of booking is superb. We stayed here for a four night family skiing break. The Count who owns/runs the place is ever present in a traditional low key mine host fashion. The staff are very friendly and very efficient. The food is superb, no matter which meal, be it breakfast, lunch or dinner. Log fires in the public rooms. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable but please don't expect Sky TV. This was our second visit and we would come back again without hesitation.

"A rare magic impossible to put into words...."

10.0

... combined with excellent service, and exquisite food are the reason why we come back for the last 7 years. The former hunting lodge is in the hands of the family for hundreds of years, so expect a very special atmosphere. If you are looking for a state-of-the-art sports-hotel equipped with the latest gadgets you might be disappointed. If it is a rare sense of cultivated hospitality combined with breathtakingly good food (and wine) in a place that was built for this kind of experience with friends and family hundreds of years ago, then this could be your thing. The location is excellent for fine skiing-holidays with your closest ones.

"great ski getaway"

10.0

The jagdschloss in Kuhtai is by far my favourite place for a ski-weekend. Kuhtai itself is already a great little village but the Jagdschloss just makes the stay that much more impressive. The count is always around talking with the guests and making sure that everyone is comfortable. As we've been there already for four years the contact with the staff is even more pleasant. We will come back here for many more times......

"Perfect Oldschool"

10.0

They don't have a fancy pool, but they give you a jar of their homemade jam, when you leave. That summs it up. From a very warm welcome, through a perfect location and really amazing food, this was a memorable stay. One of the things we liked the most was the completely easy-going way how they dealt with the kids (3&8). Kids could join the parents for dinner, or have their own at their own pace with less elaborate, but great quality kids food, such as Schnitzels, or salads, or stews etc. The ooms are a funky combination of 70s, 80s and more recent, with rustique accents, but they are clean and reasonably sized. We had a regukar room together with our kds and it never felt cramped. A warm atmosphere, help at arrival and departure, great location and real, Austrian hspitality are amongst the reasons why we will come back.

"Tyrolean retreat"

10.0

Staying at the Jagdschloss was one of those experiences that I'll never forget and always want to repeat. Set high up in a valley, 2020m, the schloss awaits at the end of a small Tyrolean village. Warm and comfy inside, we were greeted by the Count himself as we arrived, who was very helpful throughout our stay. His staff was as warm and welcoming and very professional, with interesting historical info on the schloss. Our room was warm and paneled in old carved pine, it had been the Prince's room when he came in the 1400's. Totally awesome! Then we went to eat . Again, lunch was warm and cozy, and good. Esp. those Grogs. Then skiing, right down the hill was a gondola, woooosh! Excellent! And just above the schloss. When we went for our 5 course dinner we were impressed. The camera came out and we were sated. It was so Tyrolean here we added another day, really. What a jewel of a hotel set high suspended in a valley of powder snow.

"Wow"

10.0

This is an old hunting lodge which has been converted into a hotel by the Count who still runs and owns the hotel. The rooms are nice, and provide comfortable accomodation. There is a choice of old style rooms in the original building, or more modern rooms in the annex. The hotel has a sauna, steam room, cold room and offers massage facilities. It offers fantastic food every evening consisting largely of traditional game i.e venison, rabbit, etc. It also has a bar and many stuberls or little wooden rooms for enjoying a quiet beer / wine in the evening. It offers an extensive wine list within its own cellars for connosieurs. The staff are very welcoming and friendly and the Count himself is always around, and you will often bump into him on this ski slopes as well. The hotel is not cheap, but is comparatively priced for the standards provided. It is also less likely to have children staying, as the other hotels nearby offer swimming pools.
