Briar Barn Inn

I’ve stayed at this hotel in the past when it was newer and had a genuinely pleasant experience, so I was disappointed by how different things felt this time. Overall, the hotel was just okay. I came on a solo trip specifically to reset, unwind, and enjoy some quiet time while exploring the area. Upon arrival, no one greeted me or offered any information— including the fact that breakfast pastries were available in the morning, which I only learned about later. I also had multiple bags and wasn’t aware that luggage carts were available, so I would advise others to ask for one in advance. When I inquired about the on-site restaurant, I was told it was closed due to a wedding. Fortunately, Three Sweet Peas Bakery is only a minute away and has excellent coffee, so I highly recommend stopping there. The most frustrating part of my stay came on the one day I wanted complete rest. I was informed that staff needed to enter my room to remove window screens. I asked if it could wait until the following day, but was told the window cleaning was only happening on Sunday— ironically, the day I hoped to be left undisturbed. A few hours later, loud banging and hammering started. To my surprise, the room next door was under renovation, and they were installing new hardwood floors right beside the bed where I was trying to relax. I was offered a 20% discount for the inconvenience, which I appreciated—until checkout, when the discount was removed because they “did not recognize” me when I left. Upon revisiting this promise, they said they would give 30% off for the day of disturbance. I would have just preferred no disturbance. For a weekend stay, I also found it surprising that spa services weren’t available until weekdays. It’s hard to understand the logic of offering no treatments during peak leisure days. Overall, this visit fell far short of what I expected, especially considering how much I enjoyed the hotel in the past.

We loved our stay so much! Briar Barn Inn will be our go to every time we visit Massachusetts. The property is beautiful, the staff is wonderful. Our room was incredibly comfortable and absolutely spotless. Wished we had planned a longer stay!

Exceptionally clean, nicely designed and comfortable room. The lady who checked us in, Paula, went above and beyond her duties to ensure we were comfortable and satisfied with our stay……10/10!

Absolutely gorgeous and so clean!

Amazing, this place is clean, beautiful updated wonderful!! The beds are superbly comfortable bathrooms are clean and bright and love the fireplace in our room. I would highly recommend this place. The staff is friendly, kind, and helpful. I would definitely come back here!!!

The room was clean and bright. The decor through out the Inn was beautifully done. The grounds were also beautiful. We attended a wedding and we had a great time!

Briar Barn is truly everything ne wants in a hotel stay- custom, fantastic staff, lovely extra ammenities (coffee, pasteries, water, great soaps/lotions). The best part for us was the comfortable bed, nice soaking tub and sitting in front of the fire in our private room on our 17th anniversay!! The entire site is thoughtfully decorated with antiques that intrigue, and the "bones" of Briar Barn remain new and contemporary- so refreshing!!! We will most certainly be back!

Beautiful property. Room was amazing. Slept well……NO BREAKFAST other than cold muffins and lukewarm coffee in the lobby. For the price of the rooms, sit down hot breakfast options should be available. Should have just stayed at a Hampton Inn…..
