Merica Hotel

Nice to sit by the pool.

The location is very good, nearby to everything. The staff is amazing, always great you with a smile and they are very helpful. The food is good to, and you sleep very good in the beds.

It would have been nice to have a bit more seperate pool-area, only for the people who wants to get some sun or take a bath - so you can get more privacy.

There is no parking. We were forced to look for unsafe street parking 200 meters from The hotel There is an air of unprofessional ethics

Location and the relationship team leader caroline , infact she convinced me to stay there despite there beeing no ac’s in the rooms.. she was very polite and a good person .

The main manager , that guy i feel he does not want to have to do any one or any thing about the hotel and its guest. Completely usleless and ir responsible guy it seemed. We stayed there for more than a week. I had four rooms, 1 suite and other 3 delux rooms. Despite stirct instructions that i will be paying for only the breakfast and the other delux rooms for my guests ( mind you i had beeng giving them oral requests every day in the morning and evening - one day i personally stood at the reception and made them note it down in the computer) , this was also communicated by me personally to the great manager himself at his office on the ground floor. This was done every day when they used to ask me for futher deposit . Now on the last day of check out , i was provided with another huge bill of additional approx 2200 usd in addition to the actual balance. When i told them that i will only pay for the room balance as i have already instructed them again and again ( and mind u i had already paid for the additional things for the first 4 days also despite my strict instructions on their promise that it wont happen again) . Now comes the main part- this great manager got his guys to confiscate my luggage and locked the doors. Whn i told him that i needed to go to the money exchange to change the dollars , he asked his staff to lock the doors and kept my wife hostage. I was allowed to go out . By that time i was shit scared as it was alien country. I decieded not to exclate further and pay what ever he is forcing me to. Now to my utter surprise, whn i was back , he had had 2 goons with him outside the hotel door , the door was still locked and i was not allowed to go in and the goons threatned me and told me they will see how i leave the city and country .. i will have to pay the additional amount in usd and another 100k kenyan shillings as compensation fees to them as they had been called by the manager who was their friend if i need to leave the city .

The rooms are spacious and clean and the breakfast was great

The shower was not draining well in my room, so it got a bit flooded, My room was facing the street I therefore heard vehicles hooting in the morning.
