Beautiful property, steps from the beach! Great breakfast in the morning. Friendly staff. We would definitely stay here again!

We liked the location that was a bit off the beaten path and direct access to a small but very nice beach. The hotel was small but the available food and drink exceeded our expectations. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful,

The A/C unit in the room was noisy, which made it hard to have both cool and quiet during very hot weather when we were there.

The breakfast was great, with a variety of choices catered to dietary restrictions. The table overlooked the beautiful bay and even wildlife in the trees!

Cocobolo Boutique Hotel was a very pleasant surprise! Beautiful views, in a quiet semi-isloated area on the beach. Very friendly, happy staff, good food and a great funky beach bar. Rooms are spacious, modern and very clean. Great vibes. Highly recommend!

breakfast great... esp love the fresh fruit and eggs! we really appreciated all of the staff, esp our main contact- Isaac !! He was so helpful and upbeat. the architecture of our rooms was superb...rooms so spacious, shiny and quiet. Elegant really! Having a porch for early a.m. coffee was lovely. and for evening views of ocean and property.

Our Air conditioner seemed to be getting worn out due to the sort of roaring noise it made when running! Had to turn it off one night, it was so loud. Batteries on the a.c. control may have been dying since control did'nt work well. For an 80 year old, maneuvering the property was a little tough, lots of stairs. Good shoes help. Beach is nice. surf a bit rough. Fun to watch to local families play. Outdoor temps were hot and humid from 8a.m. to 7pm. Be prepared and pace yourself. Take an afternoon nap!

Pleasant staff, comfortable beds, good breakfast.

My expectations were high. San Juanillo, its beach and Cocobolo facilities were a big disappointment. The staff were pleasant and they do what they can with what they have. Far too expensive for what you get.

The hotel provided exactly the retreat we needed. The beach just below the hotel is lovely. I could reach it easily even though I had a bad case of sciatica at the time. Breakfast was freshly made. We didn't need any of the nearby restaurants and had all dinners in the hotel. Specifically Isaac from the staff helped a lot. But the owners couple, who run the hotel as their calling not primarily a business and everyone working there gave us the impression we were part of the community of this family-run place. The last 20 km road there are in rough shape, but a higher clearance vehicle works. The locals don't even need that. For roads in Costa Rica, I would recommend, get the app WAZE, which is accurate and current.

I couldn't come up with anything negative. I was reading reviews complaining about tropical animals. Well, it is a tropical place. We were amazed by the howler- monkeys, iguanas, vultures and other animals.
