St Nicholas Hotel Colchester

On the plus side. Great location. The guy at reception was excellent. The room is very, modern, clean and fittings to a good standard. However, if you want to sleep forget it. I am lying here typing this at 11.40pm, sirens from police/ambulance periodically wailing outside, noise from traffic and club music booming away across the street. No chance of sleeping until 1am (maybe later) I suspect. Paying the price for being on the High Street on a Saturday. It's a pity, as it very good accomodation in totally the wrong location. If they want to get decent reviews they need (as a minimum) to get better sound proofing for the windows.

It was clean and modern, right in the centre of the town too.

Trying to gain access through the doors with keycards that didn’t always want to work was annoying.

I loved the location right in city centre. I had no idea it’d be so self serve but that suited me fine.

There was a little food on the wall but that’s all

The toilet was blocked and there was no toilet brush to fix it

Die Lage und das Frühstück.

Dass die Heizung in unserem Zimmer nicht individuell regelbar war. Wir hatten ständig mindestens 26 Grad im Zimmer, doch wurde uns vom Personal mitgeteilt, dass sich daran nichts ändern ließe, da alle Zimmer an einer Heizungsschleife hängen. Ein Schlafen bei offenem Fenster war, aufgrund des Straßenlärms, leider auch nicht möglich.

perfect central location, generously sized room, friendly staff and great amenities.

AC / heating system can prove unreliable, random items seem to sometimes be malfunctioning. a fridge would be a great addition to an already good product.
