Very Clean and comfortable Lovely view of the water and the Main Street Close to hiking trail and train station Louisa(?) the most lovely lady with very good English who makes a great morning coffee and very knowledgable about all things Cinque Terre. Provided good discount on the Cinque Terre card.

All properties in Vernazza have steps…it’s the Cinque Terre after all and this property is no different but pack accordingly and then the steps just adds to the quintessential Italian charm!

The location and vistas were great. There was noise from the train but it didn’t bother us too much. The bed was comfortable, the facilities for our clothes was excellent. Really well thought out. The communication about how to find the hotel from the train station was very useful. The staff can arrange a porter to carry one’s luggage. It’s a bit too pricey but we didn’t want to carry our own large cases so we paid the freight €20 per bag.

Our room (Maria) did not have its own balcony. The room next door had to walk past our room along a very narrow walk way which could be used to sit on with chairs provided. However this was all a bit awkward. We ordered some wine from the restaurant but were not allowed to sit at the dining bench to drink the wine even though there was no one in the restaurant. They could have said. Sure but if we suddenly get diners would you mind moving. Just seemed a bit hard & fast rules. On the subject of rules there are quite a lot with regard to the room. All seemed a bit rigid. There were talk of coffee & cake on other reviews, we never saw that. Maybe we were too early. It did not spoil our holiday that said but would not go back.

Location. Lorena is very jive and wants you to have a good time.

Difficult to find. Two ways of getting there, one much easier than the other with luggage. We googled the location, it took us the long way and we still couldn’t find it. Fortunately, after asking several people, someone pointed us in the right direction. Make sure you know exactly how to get there prior to dragging your luggage up the stairs. After contacting them, they did eventually send us a video which was helpful in pinpointing their exact location.

Spectacular view of the village as well as the water, particularly during Golden Hour. We really liked watching the trains coming & going. the room had everything we needed for our stay. Lorena was amazing - very personable and helpful in planning our time. Cappuccinos & cake were a lovely added touch.

The bed was a bit uncomfortable.

The location was excellent - centrally located in town and close to the train station but up on a hill so we had views over the town and out to the water. The staff were wonderful – really friendly and helped us with all of our questions. They also sent us a video before our arrival of exactly how to get from the train station to the property (3-4 minute walk) so we found it really easily. They have a lovely little restaurant on property where we had a wonderful dinner on our second night, overlooking the sea view. They also made us delicious cappuccinos in the morning. We would definitely come back to stay again at Casa Cato!
