Alea Tulum

We loved the secluded location, private beach, free water activities, free large breakfast, large balcony, dipping pool, swim-up to room, friendly and helpful staff. Small grocery store nearby is helpful too.

Unpaved road into the hotel is filled with mammoth potholes. Buy lots of bug spray and after bite lotion.

The hotel is great, but expect some challenging driving into the property (which is the quality of the roads in Tulum, not the hotel's fault).

The breakfast was good. The food was reasonably priced.

The road to get into hotel was horrible. Even though there is a big generator there the power still went out 3-4 times during our stay. The WiFi was out the 1st 2 days. Swim up pool was dirty and water level was too low for the filtration system to work

I recently stayed at Alea Hotel in Tulum and had a deeply disappointing experience. We were charged an environmental tax upon arrival, which we paid at the desk. Despite this, we were harassed daily by the staff, who claimed we hadn't paid the tax. This constant harassment made us feel unwelcome and marred our entire stay. When it was discovered that we indeed did pay the staff was apologetic however I expected a more professional and respectful environment from a hotel of this caliber. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel and hope they improve their customer service practices. Also the road driving up to the hotel is horrendous. There are millions of potholes a total bumpy ride might induce seizure. Overall, Alea Tulum failed to meet my expectations in nearly every aspect. For the price I paid, I expected a much higher standard of service and accommodation. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay in Tulum.

Food menu did not reflect actual available dishes. In general too long time to prepare and serve food. Access road from main road not in acceptable condition

The food was delicious and the staff was kind

There were cockroaches all over the property - one was in a drawer in our room crawling on our clothes. One was in the restaurant. Also the power kept going out - which is not the property’s fault it was a tropical storm but I messaged them in advance asking if they typically had power outages when storms came through and they said no. However they had a generator on standby so clearly this is something they were prepared for. Out power ran off a generator for most of the trip and AC was not able to run off the generator so our room was very hot.

The staff was rude and not helpful my friend was arguing with Alberto trying to get a refund because the hotel didn't look anything like the picture the hotel is tiny and we were given a dirty nasty room the sheets were dirty the toilet had dried pee on it and the shampoo and conditioner were completely used and empty they did change the room but that room wasn't properly clean either the hotel is small and barely has a beach they have hidden fees they divide $16 along with your final price if you are using a card this was a bad experience and I wouldn't recommend

Everything was top-notch, your people were so friendly and went out of their way to make our day wonderful! The food was phenomenal as well,A+
