Villa Del Poeta

Our hostess was delightful, friendly, and accommodating. Her breakfast was full of a variety of homemade breads and cookies, and of course juices, fruit, and coffee. And the atmosphere inside and outside was very beautiful.

We had a hard time finding the location.

Very good location for those arriving by bus - between the bus stop and the town. Calm and peaceful. Our room looked over a garden and a cherry tree.

Our hostess was most hospitable and the place was spotlessly clean. We were given a generous breakfast of mostly sweet foods. There is a lovely warm eider down on the bed but the room is dark as the shutters are kept closed to prevent neighbour's looking in.

I feel that we were misled by the information given on booking.com. There are no kitchen facilities in the room. There is a separate kitchen where the breakfast is prepared and at first we were denied access to this room until we showed the information on the booking confirmation.

Maria Teresa is an exceptional host, very friendly and helpful. The house is beautiful, welcoming and its spotless! The room had all the amenities one could possibly need.

The room was clean.

The room was freezing. She refused to turn on the heat except for a few hours at night. She said it was against Italian law, which was a flat-out lie. I might point out Sulmona is at a high elevation and very cold well into spring. Snow can be seen outside the windows even in April. The room lacked basic amenities such as extra blankets, a hair dryer, a tea kettle, water glasses, etc. When we told her we would leave after the second night & she could keep the money we paid for third she lost it. She screamed, called my wife names, and threatened us. Honestly, it was fairly sad & really weird. The host very obviously has issues. She keeps emailing vulgar insults, and shifting fictional, delusional attacks, which we, of course just ignore. (You can’t argue with crazy.) There is reason to believe that she has gamed the review process. We have traveled extensively for decades and have never had such a weirdly unpleasant experience.

Lovely building, exceptional breakfast with homemade cakes, spotlessly clean. Knowledgeable, helpful and attentive host. It felt like being in an authentic Italian home.

Maria Teresa was very nice, helped us with recommendations and booking for restaurants. There is always a free parking in the street just outside
