Richmond House Hotel

Location is perfect right next to lake. Hotel staff where so nice and friendly. They own the resturaunt underneath and the food was top quality.

I wasnt there lomg enough.

Unfortunately another building across the road alarm went off about 4 times from 9pm and disturbed my settling down to sleep and woke me up in early hours.

Absolutely lovely stay in Fort Augustus. The location is extremely convenient, the staff were very kind and welcoming, the beds were comfortable, and the water was plenty hot. Everything you want after a long day of travel. (And while there, be sure to stop into Iceberg Glass next door!) A few helpful tips for future guests: Parking: Parking is located to the right of the back patio of the Chinese restaurant. You will turn onto Canal Side, then turn again immediately, right before the Bothy Bar. That lot is for the hotel. Getting to the hotel: You access the hotel by walking up the stairs and through the Chinese restaurant. It feels strange at first, but it works perfectly. The bartender or waiter will happily point you in the right direction and guide you around to the hotel entrance. If you are arriving or leaving outside of restaurant hours, you will need to walk around the block to reach the parking lot. It is not a far walk at all and very manageable. Side note: the Chinese restaurant is excellent. It is a great perk to be able to walk downstairs and grab a well-deserved dinner, especially after nearly 30 hours of travel. The rooms are basic but have everything you need. The bathroom is on the smaller side, but it is well set up and fully functional. Overall, a very comfortable and pleasant stay and I would absolutely recommend it.

TV didn't work. We weren't in the room much, so didn't attempt to problem solve or ask the hotel for assistance.

Very clean and right off of the Great Glen trail and also right down town, close to restaurants and pubs.
