The George Hotel

Generell eine gut ausgestattete Unterkunft, allerdings stören mich einfach diese uralten dreckigen Teppiche. Und es roch etwas modrig, was von der Substanz des Hauses kommen kann (oder dem Teppich?)

Der Teppich und die Nähe zu der stark befahrenen Straße. Ab 5 Uhr morgens donnert der Verkehr da durch.

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable. Dinner was what I expected. The shower didn't work properly, switching from boiling hot to freezing cold without my touching any of the controls. It was too hot for me to fancy a cooked breakfast - but the coffee was undrinkable and a slice of toast was ... a slice of toast.

My room was on the first floor, right on the main road. There was heavy traffic thundering past at speed all night. It was impossible to sleep. I did notice there were some rooms at the back - if only I had been told about the traffic noise and offered one of those, I would have been happy. But I'm not.

What a welcome.. all staff were welcoming and nothing was any trouble. Dinner and Breakfast were superb.

English breakfast, old fashion room, but OK for a short term.

Took time to get warm water in shower.

It was a lovely old building and it really suited the area. Very clean inside the rooms. Breakfast was lovely. Spoke to a couple of the staff and they seemed lovely

We booked 2 rooms. 1 had a wardrobe the other didn’t so we couldn’t hang clothes in both rooms. We used space in the other room which was next door. We did have a load of hangers in the room on the floor. Bit pointless if you can’t hang them anywhere. The TV in our room we couldn’t get it to work, just said no dvd present and we couldn’t work out how to get to normal tv. We weren’t bothered by that to be honest as we weren’t in the room long enough to watch tv and we forgot to mention on check out (lack of sleep). The worst part for us, which is no fault of the hotel and they were very apologetic when we mentioned is the noise people made in the room above. The room above us made noise all through the night so we didn’t have a great nights sleep. Constant thuds every hour. I have no idea what they were doing. There are signs on the door that it’s a very old hotel so noise travels. Guests need to be a bit more respectful of others
