Everything was fine

Location, staff were friendly and accommodating. I did see the reviews prior to booking and I can tell you now, there was NOTHING wrong with the apartment. Everything was perfect and the instructions were clear. The staff also met us outside the building to assist with our bags and teach us how to use the locks and even let us in early!

As soon as I registered through an app that the owner insisted I use, I received a message detailing all the things that were not allowed in the apartment. There was a €200 fine for smoking in the room, which could be detected by their smoke detector, and a €500 fine for making noise. I can't remember exactly how much extra we had to pay if the apartment was left for even a minute after 10 AM. At 9:55 AM, they knocked on the door to remind us about time. Although these rules wouldn’t normally bother me, the way the owner communicated felt more like a threat than a friendly reminder, even before my daughter arrived in Budapest. I tried to ignore my initial feeling, but I must say I was disappointed by the overall attitude. My daughter tried to reach out to the owner when she entered the apartment to inform him that the door lock was broken and couldn’t be secured, but no one responded to her messages. Her boyfriend managed to fix the lock, so they were able to secure the apartment. The condition of the lock can be seen in the photos. Then, my daughter messaged me to ask if I could reach out to the owner for a solution, as there was no stove in the kitchen. She requested at least a hot plate since there was no stove, but there was no response. I contacted the owner, and his response was that I should have checked what was available in the apartment before booking, and that this was not mentioned. His reply was very cold and abrupt, but he did not forget to send me a whole list of things that were forbidden, along with the corresponding fines. I was left speechless, as I have never experienced such a response, despite staying in various places around the world. The insulation was poor. The beds are uncomfortable.
