Kaikoura, Cubby House Stay

We stayed 4 nights at Cubby House and it was hard to leave. Leanne & Richard are excellent hosts, friendly & knowledgeable of the area. Cubby House is cozy, quirky & filled with everything you need for your stay - kitchen & bath amenities, games & comfort. The distance to Kaikōura is easy and looking out the windows you can see the ocean & mountains. We had a wonderful stay here and would not change a thing. We one hundred percent recommend Cubby House! Thank you.

Leanne has created a wonderful home from home in a beautiful rural setting - about 4 Km north of Kaikoura. You have the entire house to yourself. Everything possible is thought of and provided. The house sleeps 6 comfortably. The beds and bedding are excellent. Plenty of books, games, art material and more (even a piano) if the weather if poor. Outdoor decking and BBQ for good weather - with spectacular views over Kaikoura (see below). The kitchen is amazingly well equipped, with a loaded fridge and so much more provided. Much of the food and provisions are fresh and provided free - and any extras can be paid for or replaced. There is even a professional Italian-style coffee machine. The house itself is beautifully restored with a lovely log burner for cool evenings (Leanne had it lit and ready for our arrival). The driveway to the house is an adventure in itself, with a welcoming committe of geese, turkey, fawn (yes, remarkably tame young deer) and sheep.

Nothing at all!! We could easily have spent a week here - loads to do in and around the property and in Kaikoura. Like so much of our New Zealand trip, we needed more time and were sorry to leave after just two days! Leanne is an absolute gem of a host.

Leanna is full of love and warm hearted. you can absolutely feel her love for the wonderful house and nature lives.Our family had a wonderful experience at her house.

Fantastic stay with great location and views. Leane was lovely and showed us around the farm, even got to feed the animals. Would defianlty come back for another stay. The place has everything you need, so defiantly recommend staying in, enjoy the views and location.

Didn't stay long enough!

A wonderful stay, beautiful farmland, amazing sunsets and views. A cute property with everything you could possibly want. The hosts go above and beyond to provide you with everything you could ever want!

Everything here was perfect! The hosts were attentive and gave us a tour of the property which was wonderful. The house was extremely well equipped. The view was spectacular even though the weather wasn't perfect for us. We enjoyed everything and wished we could have stayed another night!

Everything was great!

The house is the most equipped house you will ever find- We had a very comfortable stay in the lovely two story accommodation with great views in the farm. You will be wowed just by the views ! Leanne is such a lovely host. She brought us round the farm and introduced us to the animals. The house also had a warm fireplace and she made sure we had enough heating. Kitchen was more equipped than my own home so super easy to cook anything you’d want. Bathroom had its own heating and we all had cosy hot baths. Two TVs in the house and lots of games to keep everyone occupied if need to stay indoors. Could have easily stayed here for weeks and weeks !
