OYO Newquay Beach Hotel

Upon arrival at the hotel, we were greeted by a friendly gentleman at reception - we paid the 10-pound fee for parking per day and were taken to our room. We had booked a Deluxe room with a sea view. The room we were shown into was tiny; it had the most minimal sea view, which was mostly covered by buildings and was not like what we had booked. The room only had one water glass, not two, used items on the tea tray and stuff marks on the bedding. We told reception, who rightly moved us into the actual room we had booked. This was much better, and the view is incredible. The wardrobe is broken, and again the amenities were not quite right in terms of barely filled tea trays, body wash, and no toilet roll, but all very fixable. That evening, we were excited to eat in-house at the restaurant that looked great, only to be told that it and the subsequent bar are not open and will not be during our stay. It does not state this on any website, and we were not made aware upon arrival. I find this to be very annoying as it is a big factor in booking the hotel. The road noise is not too bad; however, the cleaners are very loud in the morning. The doors lock on codes, which the man at reception watched us enter. If another guest does not lock their door properly, their door will continuously beep until staff intervene. We found this out the hard way one morning. The beds are clean and mildly comfortable, but this is certainly no longer a 4-star hotel - it looks desolate, which I understand for the time of year buy it is not helped by the unopened bar and restaurant. Although the staff are helpful, they are simply not knowledgeable enough to be in such a business. They could not even provide us with two champagne flutes one evening, despite it stating 'room service' on the website! And I do not think the rooms are worth the money unless brought under discounts - at no point were we offered any money back or anything such as a discounted night regarding the misfortunes that occurred during our stay. I cannot comment on breakfast; however, the menu left in our room was for another hotel close by. Sadly, this is no longer the Hotel it used to be, according to previous reviews.

This was a gift booked through Buyagift , I can only endorse the other bad reviews , it was awful , the manager was pleasant but really the room was small not the cleanest hand rails hanging off in corridor , room was cold had to go out and buy blanket and fan heater , bed was horrible ,breakfast was part of our package but know food available kitchen and bar closed , even in the room very minimal tea and coffee know spoon Christmas decorations we’re still up so that was bad luck . We ate out in some nice places, but also the town was very tierd looking with many closed for out of season Happy to leave .

I booked a stay at the OYO Newquay Beach Hotel for my sister and her partner as a birthday celebration, and they were massively disappointed. Don’t be fooled by previous good reviews — the hotel is under new management and it is awful. Upon check-in, the reception staff couldn’t speak English and were extremely rude. The room was in terrible condition: the carpets were filthy, the curtains were hanging off the wall, and the wardrobe had no handle — just an exposed screw. To make matters worse, the bar and restaurant were completely closed. Even though breakfast could be “booked online,” there would have been no way to actually have it. Overall, this was an extremely poor experience. I cannot recommend this hotel in its current state.

The hotel has a beach view, the rooms are on a very noisy main road and extraordinarily small in every way. The hotel is tired, the neighbourhood is very very poor with a slot machine arcade next door. Parking is expensive, our duvet, coffee cups & general cleanliness was poor. I would politely suggest you don’t get duped by the pictures as we were and AVOID

We arrived at the hotel with a confirmed reservation for New Year’s Eve, only to be told at reception that they had no rooms available because they had overbooked. This was already frustrating, but what made it worse was the attitude of the reception staff. They were rude, dismissive, and completely unhelpful, offering no apology and no real assistance in finding an alternative place to stay. After traveling and arriving expecting a room, being turned away like this was unacceptable. Overbooking might happen, but the way it’s handled matters — and in this case, it was handled very poorly. We would not recommend this hotel based on the lack of professionalism and basic customer service.

Awful service from the get go , we booked a night away for our anniversary through wowcher , we were meant to get a glass of prosecco on arrival ,the guy at reception had no idea what I meant and said we could get it at breakfast? I explained we would be driving then and didn't want alcohol in the morning, he didnt seem to care . I then asked if I could have a small amount if soya or oat milk for tea / coffee he had no clue what i meant again and said no . But the best of all was when we came down for breakfast at 8.30 to be told by the same guy ,sorry no chef today so no breakfast!! And a refund woyld be applied within 2 hours!! Absolute joke ,the place is not manged well at all ,would not recommend, you also have to pay £10 for a nights parking. Ruined anniversary break and waste of money having to find somewhere else and pay for breakfast

We did not feel safe in this hotel and had to find alternative accommodation. On arrival we were told that we had to pay the gentleman £10 to park in the car park. When we moved and parked somewhere else he insisted that he wouldn’t charge us and he didn’t mean it and we should move our car back to the car park. We felt as though he was trying to take advantage of us. Then when we were shown to our room the gentleman insisted on watching us enter the room code that I had been sent. I felt incredibly uncomfortable as he was stood so close watching every digit. This was supposed to be the private room code as there are not any room keys. Whilst I understand the compact double is a small room I did not expect the bed to be on the floor with no bed frame. The sheets were also dirty and the headboard and mattress stained.

I stayed at OYO Newquay Beach Hotel on 18 November 2025, and it was one of the worst hotel experiences I have ever encountered. The property was filthy, with stained carpets, widespread disrepair, and an unbearable stench. The conditions were so unacceptable that we left within 30 minutes of arrival. Despite being verbally promised a full refund, the management deliberately obstructed the process, lied about policies, and misrepresented check-out details. The property manager even admitted they were instructed to deny all refunds, regardless of the circumstances. This is a failure to meet even the most basic standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and service. I have documented the situation with photos, videos, and audio recordings, which I have submitted to regulatory authorities. I strongly advise anyone considering this property to stay far away

We have arrived at the hotel and Sam has greeted us. We have been told that we can’t park outside the hotel as some other guests have reserved it. And been guided and directed to go and park somewhere else, that was a bit stressful as we had plenty of luggage. Once we entered the hotel we noticed how cold it was inside. When we took the stairs to our room we noticed how dirty it was all over, the floors, the tables etc. Our room was freezing cold, looked smaller than on the photos. We were disappointed straight away. We’ve been told that they might turn on the central heating but they haven’t. No towel rail in the bathroom, was freezing. The carpet and the furniture was not in a nice neat condition, dirty, with marks all over. It was not worth to pay so much money for such low standards. Only the view was lovely, thanks to the water and the beach. We were extremely disappointed with the whole hotel experience. Will not book here again. I do not recommend this place.

Lovely décor, spotlessly clean. Beautiful sea view room with balcony. Staff go above and beyond to help. my only downside was the bar and restaurant not open. But breakfast was very good (extra charge)
