The dogs. Barking incessantly, every night. The owners were ineffective at making the problem go away, and tried to gaslight me by saying no one had ever complained about it before. They were literally outside the gates. Isolated location requiring a taxi to go anywhere. You'll pay more for the taxi ride to dinner each night than you will for dinner. Desk staff speak fluent English but are very unhelpful with ensuring safe and timely transportation to the airport in Calama. I ended up having to take a $100 taxi to the airport because I had an early flight and no one would help me get there in a timely manner. They also referred me to Transvip multiple times even though I repeatedly told them Transvip has terrible service and refuses to speak English.

Magnifico Lodge! Personale attento e professionale. La signora che preparava le colazioni è davvero una brava persona, gentile, simpatica e molto disponibile. Anche la signora della reception ci ha aiutato molto e, sapendoci in giro con l'auto, ci ha anche avvisato con un messaggio di whatsapp dell'arrivo di una tempesta di sabbia (grazie ancora!). Il lodge è bello, confortevole, arredato con gusto, molto pulito.

There are two things that stand out- the facilities and the staff. Our room was very well appointed, clean, and energy efficient. Everything worked, and we were lacking nothing. Similarly, all of the common areas were comfortable and well appointed. The breakfast room is cozy and bright. The breakfast is great. The entire place has a consistent, harmonious theme. Well designed, well made, and well maintained. But maybe the best aspect is the staff. Everyone was warm and friendly. They were patient with my Spanish (and no doubt, they speak beautiful English too). They offered great restaurant suggestions, and always asked about our activities for the day to help plan for our needs, like packing a "to go" breakfast or lunch. The staff are just genuine and service oriented, always one step ahead. I highly recommend Lodge Quelana.

Nothing. We liked everything! Just be aware, if you are without a car, the lodge is located about an hour walk outside of SPdA. But they can refer a taxi service for you that is cheap and friendly. We even walked it several times and enjoyed the walk (on a small road off the main road), but undoubtedly the feasibility of the walk depends on the season and temps.

It has a very refined luxurious yet authentic feel to it. Impressive attention to detail.

This is a lovely retreat. Each room is an individual cabana. The decor in the room was beautiful, and the landscaping of the grounds is wonderful. The staff was extremely gracious. I used this as a base to explore the area for 3 days and it was perfect. I had a rental car and explored on my own without booking any tours. It was easy and safe. A perfect trip. I will do it again soon.
