Devonport House - Constantia

An excellent location, a wonderful homely Guest house with Jacques and Jenny making you feel so welcome. It was spotless and very comfortable and our bedroom had spectacular views. Two great restaurants in Groot Constantia only a 5min walk through the vineyards and when you needed to go back Pinto the driver was there. We so enjoyed the tea and fresh cake in the afternoon, one felt totally spoilt. We thoroughly enjoyed our 5 nights and were sad to leave.

Beautiful property, lovely clean rooms and met all our needs. The location was peaceful and quiet which we like but within walking distance of a couple of good restaurants.

The layout of the hotel was different to what was on booking.com Different photos to what was actually there Extremely small breakfast room and the cold choice was minimal and wasn’t that fresh Whilst sat having breakfast the owners dog which wandered around the hotel squatted and deficated right at the door of the breakfast room There was no apology from the owner when I advised them that it needed cleaning away! Disgusting ! There was not a large room with TV and pool table It just wasn’t there even though Booking.com show a picture of this on the website site There was nothing to do at the hotel at all The bar area was so small there wasn’t anywhere to sit inside and have a drink in the bar area

Lovely place in Constantia, beautiful house, close to restaurants and wine estates, very kind and helpful owners and staff. It was also very clean of loved all the details of the house, interior and in the room. Many thanks!

Pool, architecture. Hotel had personal driver. Quiet area. Easy walk into Groot Constantia vineyards where there are two restaurants.

Long walk or drive to anywhere else, had to use hotel taxi or be back before dark. No air con in room.

This is a fabulous guest house, the owner Jaques meets you and is really welcoming and informative. All the staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast is a nice continental buffet style, with plenty of options. There are two pools, we only used the main one, but very clean and a good temperature. Plenty of towels and beds / seating by the pool. They also have a driver, who will shuttle you around for approximately the same cost as an uber, but he's very reliable and that’s important. The rooms are very well equipped, plenty of storage, a safe and comfy beds. There's an honesty bar, which is well stocked for most needs I would think. We will absolutely go back to stay the next time we are in Constantia.

The only slight downside (which will depend on the time of year you visit) is there is no air con, but there is a tall fan in the room to compensate.

Devonport House is a wonderful guest house in a very nice and quiet neighborhood. Jenn and Jacques are great hosts and very helpful with tips for restaurants and sightseeing. The rooms are spacious and well equipped. Breakfast includes plenty of choices for everybody. Constantia is perfect if you are looking for a place close to Cape Town but safe and quiet.
