"It was a so-so experience..."

My wife and I recently stayed at the Westin Michigan Avenue Chicago for three nights. Overall, I'd give the hotel a "B". The location was fine and the room was clean but the friendliness of the staff was very mixed, some staff members were excellent, others need a real tune up, particularly at the front desk. Would we stay there again? Probably not.

Coming from Canada, we expected our 6 nights stay in the Chicago Magnificent Mile Westin to be equally good, if not better—but it felt only a notch above a motel. The hallways had an unpleasant odor, unclean, smelly carpeting, and clearly needed upgrading. Basic amenities like a tea kettle was missing, cofee machine was located in the washroom (!), and housekeeping service was inattentive. The toiletries were of poor quality, and despite our room overlooking rooftops, it was priced the same as rooms with much better views. Overall, a disappointing experience that didn’t live up to the Westin name.

One bad part -drain in tub very slow. Called to fix it but even afterwards still slow. Also room was not cleaned one day, had to call to get it done.
