The Westin St. Francis San Francisco on Union Square

The staff at the hotel are excellent. Special shout out to Jeff Aquino who always had a smile on his face and super friendly each morning at the concierge desk. He treated me like I was special.

The convenient central location, the staff's warm friendliness and attentiveness, and the property's immaculate cleanliness and well-maintained appearance.

PROs: the personnel is always kind. The Club is fantastic, in my opinion, from decor to service. The museum displays are a treat for grand tourers. Very fine rooms in the old towers - the showers are something special. A QUESTION MARK: new lobby, was it the right decision? There was a wonderful, yet unutilized entrance room, facing Union square. There was a bar on its right side and a room for private meetings a few steps up on the left side. The bar is gone and they created a squared-shaped bar in the center of the room, placing plants, sofas and tables all around. The right wall has become a window with backlight. The style is a sort of blend of Art Deco and Frank Lloyd Wright prairie's period glass windows. It blends wonderfully with the whole building, although one could object, it's putting Art Deco-inspired decor in a New-Classical house. PROs: beside providing revenues, it has accomplished two main functions, in my opinion: 1. it has upgraded the Westin St. Francis: more lively, more upscale, more old fashion, high class living vibes than before. 2. it has transformed an unutilized space (sort of, because walking in a spacy, classy hall adds to the experience anyway) in a must-see. CONs: 1. Personal taste: I hate sitting at a bar and seeing everything that is underneath the bar, on the side that's opposite to where I sit. Admiring an ambiance full of dressed- up people and dishwashers or used plates is just not my idea of fine dining. 2. there's no more fancy entrance to the Westin St. Francis, if the bar is operating. You're directed to a tiny door, lousy corridor, 2-3 stars entrance. It drags from the experience and it creates a major inconsistency with the upgrading of the hotel that is offered by the renovation. Can't imagine an easy fix.

nice room, great view, nice beds

The facility was mostly great.

The room was too small for what was advertised. Parking, any sort of breakfast, and INTERNET, was all not included. $88 for parking. $15/ day do internet. For the is level of accommodations quality and for the cost, I find these to be pretty unacceptable. Just include these in the cost. Parking maybe I can understand but internet and a continental breakfast? Motel 6 has this included. Felt pretty disrespectful to the guests. Also impossible to get reservations at any of there restaurants. I would never stay there again.

I love this property I stay here every year with my kids as our Christmas trip.

I understand that everyone is entitled to their room and what happens in their room is their business. But I was next to a dog that would not stop barking for hourssss at night. And then started barking in early morning hours. I had to call express services to let them know but I am sure the dog had no supervision since it did continue to bark into sleeping hours.
