The Quail Lodge

This was my first time staying at Quail Lodge. I usually stay at Spanish Bay, so of course, I was comparing the two. Turns out that each is great in its own way. Quail Lodge is only 4 miles east of Highway 1, which was a nice surprise. It's in the sun belt and surrounded by gorgeous mountains. There was plenty of parking close to my room. I arrived an hour early and was happy to hear that my room was ready. However, it was upstairs, and they do not have elevators. I asked to be moved downstairs - they were happy to accommodate, and as a bonus, upgraded it with no charge! My only complaint about check-in was that there were no bellhops, and registration did not offer one. There were carts in the walkway near the parking lot for my use. However, there was a raised area from the walkway to the landing near the front door so I could not get the cart close to the door. And the door was HEAVY and self-closing so it was a hassle trying to unload the cart and get everything into my room. Maybe install a stopper on the door to hold it open? My only complaint about the room was that there was no microwave, and I did not care for the coffee maker. It had a reservoir that was already full of water. In this day and age, I don't trust anyone, so I would have preferred to have a Keurig or some other type of coffee maker where I put the water in myself. The bed was super comfortable. Loved the comforter and pillows. Liked that there was no carpet. The window seat was a nice surprise and cute...as was the patio, table, and chairs. Despite my small complaints, I would rate it an 8 out of 10. OH, and it was Super Bowl Sunday so I dined at Edgars Restaurant about half mile from the hotel. The entire staff was friendly, attentive and gracious. As was the staff at the hotel. I would definitely stay again and would be elated if I saw any of these changes made

Bed was very comfortable and the room was exceptionally clean. The property was beautiful! Easy check-in and parking.

No complimentary regular coffee! Just an Nespresso machine with a few pods. No complimentary breakfast. There aren't a lot of breakfast places near the hotel, so you have to pay a high price at the hotel restaurant for breakfast and coffee. Hand soap and shower gel were extremely fragrant and bothersome.

We were in awe of the property and location. The room was so beautiful, large, clean with amazing pillows and blankets. The room had everything in it you need! The staff are also so friendly! The resort feels like you are away on a private island it’s so quiet and peaceful there!

Beautiful grounds, large rooms, deluxe linens, friendly folk, fantastic breakfast ( not included in price of room) worth every penny though! I could go on....great pool and 9 hole putting green and smores around the fire. Not to mention...great weather!

They couldn't get my name right on the TV screen ( no biggie but kind of odd) Small (low) toilets. Really hard on older folks to use. No grab bars.

Quail Lodge has been our go-to getaway spot for may years and especially during the pandemic, when we needed the cleanliness, reliability and gorgeous setting the resort provides. It is a wonderful location, offering the best of both Carmel Valley and easy access to Carmel-by-the-Sea. The staff and accommodations are consistently top notch, the rooms, spacious and very comfortable. We have recommended the Lodge to many friends who now frequently travel there as well. Highly recommended!

Food availability was limited to the Covey Grill, I guess we should have looked it up beforehand as the website does say that the other restaurant is open at weekends.
