Hotel Riu Plaza Fisherman's Wharf

We spend a week in SF each year in December. This year we choice Hotel Riu. I did not love the surprise $250 "resort fee" due at check in. They also charge $5 if you have a package delivered even if you are in the lobby waiting for it. Their store is only open until 10pm and they don't have and vending machines. I have not stayed at a hotel without a 24/7 grab and go market in years. Not being able to by a bottle of water past 10pm was a bummer especially on new years eve. While they have a full bar their "bartenders" made the worst drinks we have ever had - and that is saying something. These were their special holiday drinks that took 25 mins to get and they were undrinkable. Stick to simple vodka tonic, whiskey coke, beer or wine if you hit up the bar. Free breakfast was basic but good. They have VERY limited seating though so there was a line all the way down the hall most of the days of our stay. The store has passable frozen reheated food that works in a pinch. The cheesesteak was actually good but once was heated correctly. The second time 1/2 of it was ice cold. We heard other guest in this hotel more than others. Nothing crazy but we could hear people packing up and moving around above us more that other hotels we stay at. Staff is all VERY friendly and helpful. If you can get a good deal and come in with expectations this is a good place to stay if you want to be close to the water and fisherman's wharf.

It was a very nice luxury hotel. The rooms were excellent and it's in a great location right near the pier.

Hotel is in a great spot, breakfast was brilliant but very busy, location is fantastic for pier 39. However the room was slightly disappointing, the actual room was a good size and had nice design but the ceilings were textured and stained. The biggest let down was the bathroom very tired looking, bubbled sections of wall paper, small flies we count work out where they were coming from, the plug in tge sink broke and wouldn't come out and the faucet sprayed a stream at you from a gap in the sealing

We were given a handicap room. The room needs a refresh. One of the lights has a short and always flickers. He handset in the shower is flimsy and doesn’t connect properly. The bed was very good. Location of property to the city and to fisherman‘s work was excellent. The resort fee didn’t make any sense. It was just an additional cash grab. Charging to use. The pool is ridiculous. When the hotel already had the pool. The other amenities with the resort fee, we didn’t even use. The breakfast being included was a good value.

Fair hotel in good location and excellent breakfast. Bit tired and dated in parts but it is brilliant location and everything is accessible

Good location, comfortable rooms, good breakfast. The gym is quite small though, and if you have your own vehicle, there seems to be sufficient parking.

I was on a Red and White Fleet NYE Cruise. The Riu was a very quick and easy walk from the dock. The hotel staff were fantastic. Super easy checkin on a very busy day. I was concerned that it would be loud considering it was NYE and the hotel was sold out., It was very quiet, Probably the quietest hotel I have stayed in. The breakfast buffet was delicious and the staff were amazing. It was very busy and they were working very hard. Overall, it was a wonderful stay and I would highly recommend the Riu Fisherman's Wharf.

Jazmin the bartender in the hotel lobby is amazing, she gets the drinks flowing and is very attentive and kind. Service was top tier. Thank you Jazmin!

Was looking for wharf hotel with a pool and walking distance to attractions. Hotel Rui was perfect. Parking is extra but plentiful in underground parking garage. Hotel seemed to bring an international crowd and the lobby and fire pits outside always busy. Didnt have the breakfast but there was a line to get in by 8:30am. Beds were extremely comfortable. Pool must have been heated as kids were in it until 9pm. I would stay again or recommend Hotel Rui for that area of San Francisco.

Great location close to pier 39, cable car stops, tourist buses, etc. The breakfast buffet will save you a ton of money, specially if you have a big family. I went for breakfast as early as possible and did not have to wait, but I could see it get packed and a little hectic as I left. Great value for the price. Overall clean. No restaurant or room service, but I used Uber eats so no big deal. This can be your hub when exploring the city. Would return again. The breakfast is the difference maker for me as everything is so expensive in the city.
