"A unique and relaxing experience with excellent hospitality."

10.0

We had the pleasure of staying at this temple, and the experience was truly outstanding. The location is excellent, easily reachable on foot from the station, and set in a charming and peaceful environment with all the necessary amenities. Our room overlooked a beautiful Japanese-style garden, which made the stay even more special and authentic, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of the place. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with exceptional professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail, making us feel at home right away. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience an authentic stay in a Japanese temple.

The only minor downside is that the room can feel a bit cold; however, this is well taken care of by the property. The room is equipped with air conditioning, a bathroom heater, and a heated blanket, so thanks to these amenities we were perfectly comfortable throughout our stay.

"As we say in Spanish ni fu ni fa"

6.0

Honestly? We wouldn’t stay here again. It was very cold & also we wanted a room with private bathroom & the lady charged us 7000 yen’s each one? We really didn’t understand why was she charging that amount per person if we are paying for a room. So it was almost double the price we already paid & we didn’t have enough energy to talk it through. Also we didn’t have a receipt with that amount being charged or anything so even if we wanted to claim it was impossible. I think it’s very hyped up & it’s a bit of a tourist trap! We stayed another day in a hotel with onsens and all a block away and it was 10000% better!

"Unlivable due to lack of heating. And, pictures are dishonest."

1.0

The building's history was interesting. The host was kind and informative during check-in. Location was good.

Like a few others mentioned, I booked here aware of the high price, but thought it would be worth it for the experience of staying in a temple. The building has no heating whatsoever. Our room was equipped with a couple of kerosene space heaters---but the problem is, these heaters are not meant to be used indoors without lots of ventilation (and even then, only to be used sparingly). There are warning labels all over the machines saying as much. Not only are these machines not sufficient for overnight use, it's dangerous and irresponsible to provide them for guests to use in spaces they are not meant for. We were provided with heated blankets as well, but it wasn't enough when sleeping in below freezing temperatures. We didn't sleep at all that night, and the next day, we took a financial hit and left our reservation early to stay at a normal hotel for half the price, as we simply weren't prepared for the lack of heating (it wasn't advertised at all). And it's worth mentioning, our room looked nothing like the pictures. The pictures depict rooms looking over a nice garden, but our room had no windows (just frosted glass) and was located off the parking lot. The website clearly advertises "this is not a Ryokan," and I was fine with that (even despite them charging Ryokan prices). I wasn't expecting amenities---I was fine with the thin walls, shared facilities, and even shrugged off that they charge for coffee pods. But our room wasn't livable in those temperatures, and the provided kerosene heaters are unsafe and unusable. Even if the other rooms are better in this regard, if you book here you risk ending up in our room while paying the same price as everyone else. So I'd recommend staying somewhere else.
