Temple Hotel Takayama Zenkoji

Perfect location for short stays - remember to avoid the room next to the temple as at 7am they are starting the prayers

Stayed 2 nights in January and it was a wonderful experience staying in a Buddhist Temple. Our room was in traditional Japanese style, reasonable in size with 2 futons. The room did not have an ensuite with the toilet and shower being on the opposite side of the Temple to our room. An ensuite is our preferred option but not having a large number of guests made access to the facilities east. There is a hot tub which you book for private use. We participated in morning prayer and meditation, both of which are recommended. There is a charge for the meditation session. Being winter the nights and early mornings were cold with the cold coming up through the floor and into the futons which is why electric blankets are provided. The room also had 2 floor mounted heaters and an A/C unit.

La habitación era muy amplia, con unas vistas preciosas. El trato tanto al llegar como durante la experiencia de meditación fue fabuloso.

Il tempio è davvero accogliente e permette di respirare un'aria autentica. La stanza è tipica Giapponese e con ogni confort. La preghiera mattutina con il monaco è stata molto interessante e ha permesso di cominciare la giornata con maggiore calma e centratura!

This is a special place to stay. From the welcome to the daily interaction with the incumbent monk it was a highlight of our trip! So was the swim in the river in 1 degree C but that's a different review...

Le confort et le côté apaisant de l’établissement. La vue de la chambre sur le petit jardin enneigé: magnifique! A réserver absolument : la méditation avec le moine; un moment inoubliable.

This was such a wonderful experience. Waking up in the morning to meditate, spending time in the temple in the afternoon. The room was very comfortable and had a modern heater and the bed had a warming sheet. There are some great activities you can add on to your stay too. The location is fantastic and so close to some of the best restaurants and experiences in Takayama.

Era bonito, hice el rezo y meditación de la mañana.

Hacía un frío impresionante, no está asolado y por tanto aunq haya bombas de calor potentes es complicado mantenerlo caliente. El baño no se calentó en toda la noche con la estufita que tenía. Está demasiado orientado a la venta y poco espiritual.
