Charleston Marriott

Room was spacious and bed very comfy, however the bathroom is tiny. I could cope with that. All was well until 04:00 when I was woken by the sound of rushing water and a beeping every minute. Assuming it was another guests alarm I attempted to go back to sleep. The beeping and gushing continued until around 08:00 when I eventually reached the end of my tether and went to reception. I discovered that it was a faulty ice machine (avoid room 701). The man at front of house was pretty disinterested and said they had no spare rooms but guests were checking out that day and he’d let his general manager know. He took my phone number to call if there were any issues. Having had less than 4 hours sleep, my day was not as good as it should have been but I expected a decent nights sleep the next night. I returned to the hotel at 17:00 to find an even less interested front of house assistant who told me they had no rooms and was I looking to leave room 701. Yes, I was! He then spoke to Janet (?) who said that she had 1 room available. The FOH assistant commented that I was lucky. Given I’d had less than 4 hours sleep having driven from Memphis the previous day, I didn’t feel particularly lucky! Surely, given they knew at 08:00 I wanted a change of room, that should have been a priority over new guests arriving? I was moved to room 425, it felt less quality but maybe that was perception. Any chance of sleep was wrecked by gurgling plumbing, thin walls and guests who’d been at a wedding noisily celebrating in their way to their rooms at 02:00. To be fair, the hotel can’t control selfish guests but they can sort the plumbing and ice machines out. This isn’t a cheap hotel and I expected better. This hotel was AWESOME!! It was super nice and clean with a really nice pool and amazing fireplaces outside. Ginny was very nice and helped us with our stay. Our valet Connor was super helpful and very kind. Very welcoming place with amazing food at their buffet as well! I would come be here any day if I could!

For guests who need to stay for less than 10 hours, very overpriced. When I booked I paid for parking then the hotel tried to charge me for parking because we valeted. There was no specifics when I booked online. There was a horrible noise from the AC that made it difficult to sleep. The staff were pleasant and the breakfast was good.

Our friends recommended your hotel so we decided to book there. We enjoyed our stay very much (didn't want to leave). We ate in the hotel restaurant several times and it was great! Sat at the bar several times and the bartenders were nice (except for one she didn't smile at all). Our room was VERY clean. The parking was the only thing that was challenging. We will definitely be back!

Old - popcorn ceiling, old stained rug, rusty shower head, broken tile in shower. House keeping only came once in a 3 day stay - had to ask for towels twice

Beautiful property, friendly staff. Note that parking is about $15/day, not walkable to town. Also, our room wouldn’t cool below 67° which is hot for me since I’m a hot sleeper. Also only 2 creamers provided and I used one that was chunky. Starbucks in the lobby for $ but I’m not a Starbucks girl.
