Hotel Garni 4U

Upon arriving for a two-night stay I was first given accommodations in a unit in the basement. The room had no internet or cellphone connection. I was told to go outside to use the cellphone. That being unacceptable I was moved to a very spacious and beautiful accommodation on the first floor where the cellphone and internet connections were perfect but the controls of the shower in the bathroom were stuck in the boiling hot water position and was repaired only later in the day. At breakfast the morning of my departure no coffee was available. I booked this hotel-garni based on the recent reviews which were generally very positive. I had too many negative experiences to write that kind of review. So maybe I was just unlucky.

I stayed here for 2 nights. Pros: nice welcome and checkout at the reception. The room is quite good. Large enough with a king bed and all the essentials. Electrical outlet by the bed is a plus. Cons : Very weak wifi at 3rd floor. The room was so hot I had to turn on the fan looking towards the bed. No shower gel the second day, good that I had brought some spares. Not even sure if they got in the bathroom because I found the towels where I left.. Overall okay stay for one or two nights but I’d look for somewhere else first.

Stayed here for 9 nights. Rates were reasonable and room was a very good size. Breakfast was good and was typical of what you will find at most German hotels. Parking was great. The gentleman who owns the place is very helpful and friendly. Would recommend for a long term stay.

Stayed here long term on a business trip (30+ days). Great apartment style rooms with full kitchens so you don't have to eat out every single night. Near supermarkets and a great running path through the woods. Near Ramstein Air Base East gate. Breakfast is small, but adequate. Owners are very nice and responsive to any issues.

I originally booked a room which had a description of having a kitchen. I tried to look at the room before I checked in, but was told that it was occupied but was assured it had a kitchen. It did not. It had a micro-fridge with a small MW on top and a few utensils in a drawer below. I mentioned this to one of the owners and she accommodated by moving me to a room with a full kitchen on the 2nd floor. Small but not bad. I was also told that the price would be a same as the original room. I checked out for a business trip but returned and was given a room with a kitchen on the 3rd floor which was even smaller and not nearly as nice since it had vaulted ceilings and the two roof windows allowed in a lot of direct sunlight. It was summer and this made the room very hot. There are fans in the room but they did not help much. After I checked out, I was charged the full rate for a room with a full kitchen for both my original stay (except for the first three nights) and the second stay and was charged for three nights that I did not stay there, but was refunded that money. BOTTOM LINE: Rodenbach is a nice area and the hotel is overall fairly nice. If you are staying more than one week and want a kitchen, there are much better options than this hotel. And if you do stay there make sure everything (room type, price, etc.) is clear up front because attempting to get things corrected after the fact is a pain. WiFi: The hotel uses German Hotspot which worked but not very well.

Just back from the most amazing stay at this warm and friendly hotel. The manageress, Petra, could not have done more to take care of us and make us welcome and went above and beyond the call of duty in every way. I would very highly recommend a stay here to anyone, EXCELLENT!!

My wife and I stayed a couple of weeks and quickly warmed to the management and the quiet, slower pace of the hotel. I have to say of previous comments regarding the washing machine and dryers, down stairs. If you use the appropriate laundry detergent, all three washing machines are fine. As for the dryers taking time to dry the cloths, clean the filter, please. These washers and dryers are for housekeeping, not guests. The Steil family allows guests to use them, though, after two PM. Our room was very roomy (by German standards) and we had everything we needed. If you leave the towels on the floor, they will replace them daily. If not, just like the Hilton, they will leave them for re-use...very logical. Mr. Steil (owner) speaks English quite well, as does his wife and the breakfast cook. And speaking of breakfast; the dining room and the food are of superior quality, even by top-tier chain hotel standards. The cable-TV has some American, French and Italian news programs. The breakfast alone, will have us coming back again. Due to the proximity of Ramstein AFB, this place also caters to American Military families. Also, please remember that a "Garni" is considered a form of Bed and Breakfast hotel, with somewhat restricted facilities and services. I've stayed in many Garni Hotels from Germany to Italy and this one ranks as one of the better Garnis. Don't forget also, the Steil family lives on premises with their extended family, adding a warmer cozier feel to your stay. For a German Garni, I rate them "very good". Leave your extreme expectations and foreign sensibilities at home and you will really enjoy your stay here.

Stayed here 9 days. Staff was ok not really friendly but not really unfriendly. Towels always smelled bad. Had to ask for the shower curtain to be replaced because it smelled bad. Price seems to be little high for quality. Was nice to have an apartment style room, but the other issues made it not worth the cost of €140 for large apartment. They have washer and dryer but washing machine didn’t work very well and dryer didn’t dry cloths even after 4 hours. Didn’t seem they replaced the sheets very often during the stay if at all. Little was done by cleaning staff. The day before we left never gave fresh towels had to call and ask.Based on those I probably wouldn’t stay here again. Parking was convenient and was quiet area. Convenient to Ramstien and good döner shop down the street.

In small town of Rodenbach, quiet location but near to Nr.6 main Highway. Several kind of rooms from single to family apps with kitchen. Even in my single room was fridge, MW and tea/coffee facility. New, modern bath, furniture, wifi, parking place. Garden with playground, nice summer/winter terrase. Breakfast in price, incl. warm eggs/sausages, cheese, fruits. Very helpful staff. For 50,-Euro/night very reasonable.

We PCS back to the States and booked 2 rooms here. Rooms were bigger than most Euro hotels. Good breakfast. In a quiet neighborhood. 10m from Ramstein. Some english channels on TV. Small bath room and shower.
