Ashore Oceanfront Hotel by Marriott

Unannounced fee at check in. Seemed a bit dishonest. Basic amenities not received despite asking for them. Staff seemed indifferent to our request. The room was clean and as advertised although the heat did not work and we had to wait for maintenance to make repairs which delayed our plans.

The umbrellas and chairs for the beach goers. Although it wasn't manned the first hour we were down there so we weren't able to get one.

We were placed in the wrong room when we checked in. They did fix it after me complaining a little about not having the sleeper sofa we reserved. The pool was closed on the hottest day of our stay being treated. All of the hidden fees. Both times I have booked here on booking, it ended up being more. Taxes daily on the daily resort fee. The bathroom wall in our room had visible water damage and needed fixed. The bathroom sink did not drain. The Tideroom was a serious letdown. The food was horrible as well as the service. It's beautiful inside, though. Honestly, for the price, I will try somewhere new next year. That doesn't mean we won't be back, but it was a disappointing enough stay to at least try somewhere else.

I stayed at the Ashore Resort & Beach Club 2 nights at the beginning of the month while I attended a conference there. My husband went with me. We checked in to our room, went upstairs, and got settled in. I went to the conference ballroom to hear the opening speaker. The front desk called me about 15 minutes later. When I went to the front desk, the woman told me there was a problem with our key cards and she had to issue new ones. She gave me 2 new key cards. When I went upstairs to give my husband his new key card, he told that a woman walked into our room - the hotel gave our room to someone else!!!! Fortunately, he was just sitting on the bed watching TV when she walked in, using the key card the front desk gave her. It was an awkward, embarrassing situation for everyone. But the 2 bigger issues are: this is a serious safety concern. The hotel gave someone access to our room. I understand mistakes happen, but this was a careless mistake that never should have happened. The front desk seemed completely unconcerned about it. The general manager is also completely unconcerned because I completed a post-stay survey describing the situation and never received the courtesy of a response! The other issue is that the front desk LIED to me! She said there was a "problem with" our key cards. She never told me they gave our room to someone else. She lied. Even aside from this, I will NEVER stay in this hotel again. It's very, very old and you can tell. It was remodeled, but in a cheap, slapdash fashion. Paint was slapped on the walls, but not the room doors, where rust and stains still show through. The elevators are creaky, slow, and smelly. There is a slight moldy smell throughout the hotel. Our room was terrible: cheap furnishings, tacky fake wicker lampshades, and a warped floor. There were stains on the ceiling. The walls are thin, so you can easily hear the people in the adjacent rooms moving around. The floor just inside the sliding glass door to our "balcony" triangle was so slanted, I was too afraid to step out onto the balcony! Whoever did the remodel just slapped cheap, fake linoleum over whatever flooring was already there. The air conditioning unit is so loud - it sounded like an airplane taking off every time it turned on. There were only (I think) 2 outlets in the entire room, making it difficult to charge our phones. To add to the weird design choices, the walk in shower doesn't provide a closing door - just half a door to the side where the showerhead is. So you have to be very careful when you shower, not to splash water all over the bathroom floor. The conference area itself is ok. There was plenty of space, but still felt old. The food was pretty good. But the staff practically shoved people out of the way to clear plates or bring out more food. I witnessed this twice. I don't want to be completely negative, so here are a couple positive things: it is a beachfront hotel with an absolutely gorgeous view. We were on the 11th floor and I loved looking out to see the ocean. The beachside deck was nice. But that's it. Everything else was awful. For the outrageous prices they charged, I would fully expect a resort experience. This place just slapped lipstick on a pig so they overcharge. There are better places to stay in Ocean City - avoid this dump at all costs!

Great place quieter location being farther from the inlet. Staff and services were great. Second time there with no major issues.

I like the fact that our room was close to the elevator, I like the fact that our balcony you was able to see the ocean, The room wasn't a bad room it was a nice room I just felt like for the price it could have been a little bit better also the staff was very friendly.

I did not like when we entered the room it had a odor to it so had to open up the balcony doors to get that smell out, I also didn't like how tiny the balcony was You're only able to fit one chair on that balcony so you can't even enjoy the view with your partner, I also didn't like how small the bathroom was and how the shower didn't have a second glass door to shut so when you showered water gets on the floor so you got to put a towel down they don't have a microwave in the room so you will have to request for someone to bring you a microwave to your room.

I was there for Teamsters Seminar.While I was there the staff worked very hard. One staff member i came into contact with was very focused very attentive and went out of her way . Jahan is an exceptional employee that Ashore is lucky to have.
