Apartamento Garden Avenue

Apart from the ok checkin, nothing really.

Apart from the ok checkin, nothing really. I arrived at 23:30 at night after my flight and there were voices coming from the apartment. Turns out the TV was on. As I found out the other nights, turns out the TV turns on by itself each night. Probably to give bonus to the creepy/horror experience. I cannot even begin to discribe how dirty everything was. It is not that difficult to wipe mold off the walls in the bathroom. After the first night, I could not even stomach to use the bathroom here anymore. The whole apartment can be described in only one way "disgusting". And for sensitive people like me, just 3 night here got me sick from the mold smell and presence.

This apartment is at the northern end of Porto, not far from a major road (so not difficult to find with sat nav). We had received instructions for getting into the building and into our ground-floor flat which comprised a compact bedroom, a well-equipped kitchen-diner and a bright modern bathroom. We could also access a small courtyard garden (shared with the other ground floor flat) and enjoyed this little bit of greenery in the middle of the city. Parking was on the street outside (we were advised not to leave anything visible in our car - just like advice in England) and there was a small mini market with a helpful owner, and a small friendly cafe-cum-bakery just up the cobbled street from our apartment. In the other direction not far away was a train stop with a ticket machine. Trains are frequent so it's easy to get into the centre of Porto

Good sized kitchen, decent location, and clean

The toilet flush didn't work properly. There was also no hand soap when we arrived so we had to buy our own. The bathroom window didn't lock (which made us worried for our safety as the host had said there were people smashing into nearby cars to steal things inside). I was also very disappointed with the host's lack of responses when we tried to contact him - we asked him on WhatsApp and Booking.com what time checkout was on our last day and he didn't reply to either of those messages. I won't be returning to this property and was very disappointed.
