DoubleTree by Hilton Philadelphia Airport

We came here courtesy of American Airlines when we missed a connection due to a flight delay on our way home. It was not a good start - we waited in the below zero cold and wind at the airport for almost a hour for the shuttle that runs every 30 minutes. It passed us once without even slowing down. The front desk - when they actually answer - said the shuttle doesn’t stop if there’s nobody waiting there??? Now to the hotel. The desk staff were shall we say, less than friendly. The hotel itself looks careworn and dated. No fridge, microwave or mini bar in the room. (Isn’t this supposed to be an upscale Hilton? We’ve stayed in Doubletrees that were much nicer.). At least the bed was comfortable and the shower hot. As for breakfast there was no one around and the only option appears to be to pay for a cooked meal - apparently no cereal, fruit, waffles, etc. So I settled for a $5+ cup of tea, a teabag in a paper cup of hot water. I don’t think we’ll be back.

The airport pickup shuttle is too slow. It took nearly an hour to get picked up. Most concerning is the front desk is difficult to reach. During the wait, I called the front desk twice; both calls took 5–6 minutes to be answered. Most appaling, the front desk stated they had no way to contact the shuttle driver. For an airport hotel, that is unacceptable. Especially in December when the weather is freezing and I am with 2 elderly seniors in their 70s! Between the long delay, unanswered phones, and lack of communication, this was a very frustrating experience. I would not recommend this hotel if you need reliable airport transportation.

Players Sports Bar has an excellent Chef! Had a perfect medium rare burger. So hard to find that level of skill and deliciousness. The entire wait staff were polite and attentive . Appreciated Chefs Jerry and Derek stopping by the table. Very nice atmosphere and the front desk staff are nice and helpful as well.
