Shooting Star Casino & Hotel

Checked into the shooting star hotel got to our first room and there were kids running up and down the hall. There was the room next to us that was smoking pot and carrying on with loud music. Remind you this is at 10:30 at night. We requested a room change got to that room. It was warm in the room. Tried to turn on the AC and it wouldn’t work again 1030 at night. We were offered to have some Maintenance come up at 10:30 at night to try to fix it we said no we just wanted to settle in and get ready for bed, then we moved to the third room sat there got settled, showered when we heard dripping sound coming from the Garden tub we looked up and there was water coming through the light fixture above the garden tub. Hence this led to our final move. We left the next morning to do what we needed to do expected housekeeping to come in and clean the room. No one never showed up to do that. I get that this hotel is the only choice in the area as far as accommodations, but I feel that they do take advantage of the customer as in claiming they have renovated rooms when things are still falling apart, the only Positive is that the Staff was super responsive and understanding and assisted us in changing the rooms promptly. We were never offered any compensation for all of the problems. We will not be returning to this hotel. And we will for sure not recommend this hotel.

The reviews I read were less than flattering but I found my room and stay average to above average. I would stay here again. The room was clean and comfortable.

They were pet friendly and my dog was comfortable throughout his stay as well!

It was a overnight stay as we traveled through the state. it had a live band playing at the main bar in the casino that made it alot of fun to hang out.

We were headed to a family event 25 miles from Mahnomen MN, and this hotel was literally our only choice for three families traveling together, when prioritizing a pool for kids and on-site food. The casino-hotel complex is a three-building labyrinth-constructed in stages. If you don’t want to get lost between the check-in desk and your room, study the layout.Our second floor room had a 300s number- as did the rooms on the third floor above us in Building 3- the most updated choice. Someone needs to rethink room numbers! Our rooms were just ok- clean two queen rooms, updated with modest materials. We had noisy HVAC and a long walk to the food and pool area (inside at the opposite end of the complex). I do highly recommend the wild rice soup at Smoke Restaurant- and the other food ordered (burger/shrimp/fries) was good enough. There was no decent, strong coffee anywhere in or near the hotel—nor was there any place to pick up simple breakfast, if you didn’t want the buffet. Come on-travelers want these things!

Thank you for having a non-smoking casino. It would be good to not have smokers right outside the front door, however. The ice machine on my floor was out of order.

Very nice staff but rooms were average or below. Light out in bathroom. Walls thin. Smoky smell.
