The Kirkfield Hotel

We just had a bit of an issue with parking really and it's a pity that the Hotel doesn't have their own. The rest of our stay was excellence and the staff were lovely

Didn’t find the hotel staff friendly at all ,no one to man the reception desk checking in or checking out ,we came home late to find the door locked and couldn’t get in ,rang the front door bell but no answer was feeling very vulnerable and worried at this time ,until I shouted through the letterbox and a man came to open the door ,we think you could do with better lighting in the rooms and a full length mirror would be good ,just another thing the church bells chime all the time ,was nice to start with but became annoying when you wher trying to rest

Helpful staff, spacious room and very comfortable bed. The shower needed to be cleaned better around the edges of the tray. Bathroom needs better lighting.

Nice hotel close to the lively high street. Friendly staff, great food and a popular and lively bar. The room had coffee/tea making facilities and was clean although the floor was uneven (old building I guess) which was unsettling at first until I got used to it. Could have done with some disposable plastic cups in the bathroom for use after brushing teeth etc. No elevator (lift) so the stairs to the second floor were a bit of a struggle for an old guy with bad knees and luggage so be prepared but otherwise it was fine. The rooms use 'old fashioned' keys which I thought was nice but they are a security risk in my opinion because it has the hotel address and room number on the tag so if you lose the key, anyone who finds it could just get into your room. Anonymous card keys are much more secure and you can slip them into your wallet/purse. No on site parking so choices are on the street or in St Peter's car park opposite. The first three hours in the car park are free but after that it is pay by machine, phone or app. The machine was out of service and as I had a foreign phone number I never got the app working, not could I just pay by phone for some reason. In the end I parked on the street although a couple of time I had to park at the other end of the high street but it's not too far to walk.

Close to motorway

We may have stayed for 1 night but it was such an amazing experience that it has had a very impressionable impact on us. Loved the Halloween theme and credit to all staff for their efforts of getting into the spirit. Good food, good entertainment and comfortable accommodation! We will be back.

Coffee was weak but apart from that all good !

Staff very pleasant but restaurant food very disappointing. Also very small area for drinking and not too keen by the fact it shows sporting events on a big screen......so it will attract groups of drunken lads......something you dont want yo have to engage with. Room given was upgrade but small dark and at the very top room 15. So not suitable for anyone with a disability.

Excellent hotel above a pub, only draw back is the pub across the street, and people lingering after closing that were very noisy. Would love to go back wen it it is not a heat wave, as room was very hot. I suggest manamenet supply fans during hot spells.
