"Would not recommend"

Much lower than expected. Old house on a busy road. Rooms need to be maintained, bathrooms are small and not pretty. Staff is friendly but there was no housekeeping and we got fresh towels only if we asked for it. Breakfast is ok. I would not recommend, not on a good standard.

"You can do better than Carol hotel."

At first sight this is an elegant hotel with a cosy ambiance, opulent furniture in the rooms, well assorted light fixtures and textiles. The staff are friendly and helpful- our communication with them was satisfactory. But the hotel does not posses the expected amenities, especially for 4 stars. Basically that building was never meant to be a hotel. There isn't a real restaurant, just a few rooms at the basement for serving breakfast and no bar/ café either, not to mention an inner courtyard or a terrace. Well, there is a makeshift "terrace" right on the sidewalk, where a bus stop is placed, so even if it was open, you couldn't use it because of the noise, dust and people passing right by your table. Also, there is no parking space dedicated, unless you consider the lines drawn both on the street and the sidewalk to be proper parking- they aren't. For a 4 star hotel the bathroom is less than satisfactory- some 2 by 2 metres, with a minuscule shower and the toilet right next to the washbasin and no place to hang your beach gear or place your toiletries. That bathroom isn't even worth 2 stars! But the worst is yet to come. We stayed in room 101 B, where there was a pervasive stench of sewage. We hoped it would pass, we covered the drain in the bathroom, then we started paying attention and we realised that the strong ( and pleasant) fragrance in all the public spaces was meant to cover the unpleasant smell of that old building altogether. Ok, it is a historic building, marked as such at the entrance, but unless something is done about the musty smell and the drainage system we'll never return or recommend it. They were smart enough to give us a discount, after we mentioned official claims and local TV . Plus we suspected ill will on their behalf, as they surely must have known about the problems with the sewage smell on that area, but they offered us the room anyway.

"My stay at Carol hotel"

The service was great, friendly staff ready to help you anytime with a smile ... very clean a spacious rooms, breakfast was the icing on the cake... Overall Im happy I came to carol hotel... the price for this hotel was very reasonable not want I expected, definitely coming here again

"Leave valuables in the room at your own risk"

My previous experience was good except that in the last week of my stay, €2,000 and important documents (reimbursable receipts) were stolen from my personal carry on luggage. Though I tried to keep this issue low profile and work with the Manager who had the opportunity to look through my entire luggage convoy, despite the fact that she wasn't wearing gloves in a COVID-19 high season, I was accused of not using the safe which worked only one time in four weeks. The Manager refused to bring the issue to the Director or Owner, and I was compelled to report the theft for further investigation. The staff had a key, and came in my absence daring to breach into my privacy. I should add that I made a transaction of €3,500 in the lobby of this hotel in the presence of an employee. There was a camera that recorded everything, and conveniently, the recording is no longer there. I had overall over $22,000 in my possession but for some reason chose to keep that €2,000 in my carry on luggage. Also, my windshield wiper was broken; management refused by ignorance to provide any information about the act. Overall, I'm disappointed that I had to publicly warn others about the potential risks but moreover, that the narrow window of 3 business days out of 30 days of my stay were not resolved at the lowest possible level. A simple credit for the stay up to the value of €4,357 (totaling the entire value of the loss) would have possibly resolved the issue to somewhat wipe clean the shame.

"Quaint hotel from ruling of King Carol I"

This is the closest hotel at 140 ft elevation from the beach; stairs without a hand rail will take you to 0 elevation. Going uphill is a great workout. The hotel has that romantic vintage feel though there are efforts to improve the amenities. Small refrigerator and tiny safe in the room; shower, hot water (very treasured in my travels and which may be missing at some hotels) make a daily routine quite comfortable. 24/7 pharmacy downstairs. Park and small 24/7 grocery store nearby. Good location except for parking which is public. Great staff and service given the COVID-19 limitations of the entire country. They speak English.

"Not exactly a 4* hotel"

Room was nice and comfy, antique looking furnitures gave it a nice retro look, the high ceiling give it a spacious feeling. Bed was also very comfortable. Breakfast was ok. Bath foot towel had a brownish colour. Shower head mount was broken, so I had to hold the shower mount with my hands while taking a shower. Shower doors looked rusted and old at the bottom. Toilet had a piece of wood at the bottom to support its frame. Surely not 4* standards. Room air conditioning was not working. Unacceptable for a 4* rated hotel at that price. I was sweating all night, despite having the air condition on cold setting. Also, asked in advance for breakfast box due to early morning check-out, but they said they don't do it because the time I want it is "too early" (6:00am) . Also unacceptable for a 4* rated hotel. Breakfast box may be inconvenient for the hotel staff because they have to spend 5 mins to prepare it, but then again, the hotel promotes itself as a 4* hotel. If you cannot provide these kind of services, stay at 3* or lower so the customers don't have false service expectations of you. Will surely not visit this hotel again.

"A beautiful place needing improvment"

The building is beautiful, the bed was confortable and I enjoyed the breakfast - tasty and with good enough options. The staff was nice and helpfull when I requested a quieter room. But I stayed in 2 different rooms and in both of them the carpet was stained and in the second room the drape had a few holes...

"Good Choice for us"

Excellent location, near beach, museum, park, market, shopping street, restaurants, and port. The place is a bit of a time-warp, but I found it charming in a large comfortable room with a little balcony, kettle, good Wifi - all mod cons present and correct. The front of house staff were pleasant and helpful printing some documents we needed for onwards travel. I liked the breakfast with enough cheese, veg and and fruit to keep me happy and hot food as well. Seating is split among several rooms. I would happily stay here again.

"Bel hôtel mais je n'y retournerai pas."

Hôtel situé à quelques pas de la plage de Constanta. Les chambres sont propres et confortables. Le petit déjeuner est assez bon mais très tourné vers le salé. Accueil poli mais un peu rude voire froid. Une atmosphère qui donne pas envie de revenir. Mes coordonnées bancaires, enregistrées sur hotel.com uniquement pour la garantie, ont été utilisées sans m'en avertir et sans mon accord par l'hôtesse d'accueil. Au moment de régler la chambre, l'hôtesse me signale en effet qu'elle s'est autorisée à récupérer mes numéros de carte bancaire, je ne sais comment, et régler mes dépenses.
