Hotel Carol Constanta

Small historic hotel in the heart of the city. The bathroom fixtures are antiquated and the automatic lights are a bit strange. Average breakfast spread, served in the basement. We had no trouble obtaining a parking space out front. Bedsheets too small for bed. The hotel is short walk from the stairs down to the beach.

very satisfied with our stay there. Room was delightful-bed very comfortable.Breakfast was a good and plentiful choice. Staff were very pleasant,helpful and smiley! This is in a superb location near the olde town and very central. The hotel has beautiful furnishings and an interesting history.

What a pleasure to get out of Bucharest and arrive here by the sea, cooler, less frantic. This is a historic building built for a famous Romanian lawyer over 100 years ago.I cannot see how anybody could be disappointed by this hotel, it's just about the best value I have ever had. By Western standards it is utterly ridiculous. Room A 106 is just about a flat, really, high vaulted ceilings and a living room attached with beautiful period furnishings and a lovely tree outside the bedroom window. It does not quite overlook the sea but between it and the sea is a fabulous restaurant just one block down. Constanta is a pleasant town, though worn in places like of eastern European resorts. It is a long way down to the beach - 195 steps! Easy to get to from Bucharest. From the airport get a taxi to Gare du Nord (North station), three or four pounds English money - agree fare in advance. Train trip is 230 kilometres (two and a half hours journey time). fare is a ludicrous £15! Would be over £100 in Britain! Loved my stay, will be back.
