Quinta da Magnólia

This was a great place to stay for 2 nights while we visited São Jorge. The staff was nice, the room was super clean, and the breakfast was very good.

An absolutely amazing stay! The location is unbeatable, with breathtaking views of Pico Mountain. It’s conveniently close to small grocery shops and charming restaurants, making everything easily accessible. The breakfast was delicious and a perfect start to the day. This hotel provided the ideal setting to relax and recharge. I loved every moment and will definitely return!

The only thing I would have loved to see is a selection of vegetables and greens at breakfast. That said, the breakfast was still very good!

I felt as it wasn't a cheap hotel that there were a number of things that could have been improved on. First of all the receptionist could have been more positive and welcoming. We asked about local restaurants that she could recommend. We were just told to walk to one 5 minutes away and she couldn't recommend anything else.The local cafe really helped us getting out a map and suggesting different restaurants. The other thing is we were staying two nights. Two pods of coffee in total were supplied. So enough for one cup each, on one morning. Only one small bottle of water. This was not replenished on the second night. We felt this detail which was cheap to correct wasn't. The mini bar was empty and unplugged. So we were left with no drinking water. Reception was locked by 4.30 and no access to ask for water.

The room was spacious and had lovely views. The breakfast was generous with many options. We enjoyed walking along the new path by the sea very near the property.

Beautiful location with excellent views of Pico, easy free parking, easy checkin. Rooms modern, excellent lighting & A/C. Bfast had extensive bread options, 3 baked sweet items to choose, fresh fruit of day ( during our 4 days was either watermelon or white melon), scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon, dollar pancakes, juice out of dispenser, coffee tea, yogurt, 3 cereal options. If wanted any other type of cooked egg it was extra €.

Most course, rough towels ever encountered in any hotel, even fabric softener would NOT have made these any better. Only allowed one “included/free” room coffee per stay, anything beyond that was extra €1 per pod ( coffee pod maker in hallway for all rooms to share), no kettle in room or hallway either (nothing for tea drinkers). Please note there is NO elevator, must use stairs to get to room. Shower curtain in shower too short to keep water contained.

This small hotel has a beautiful setting with a view of the ocean and Pico island in the distance. We were in one of the little “house” rooms away from the main building. Our large room was modern, with plenty of space to place our luggage. The bathroom was nice and also had plenty of room. We had a small deck with chairs in front of our room. The only drawback is the remoteness of the location. If you don’t have a car, it is a quite a walk to restaurants, grocery stores etc. The front desk helped us arrange taxis for us. Breakfasts were probably the least interesting of the 15 hotels we have had so far on this trip..
