Quinta da Magnólia

This is an extremely pleasant place to stay in S. Jorge. It is a small hotel, but all the rooms are very spacious. I travelled with my girl friend and our ten years old daughter and we all enjoyed immensely the hotel grounds and its infinity pool. This island is known for its numerous flat infields docked between the mountain and the sea which are called Fajãs. Every room of this hotel bares the name of a Fajã. We had the Fajã de S. João room, the biggest, and in fact it was quite spacious with every amenity we needed four our three night stay. Décor was modern and cozy. The bathroom is accessible through a sliding glass door yet with lots of privacy. I could only find three very minor flaws on my room: - The wardrobe interior has bad finishes and is not in accordance with the remaining finishes of the room. - At night I usually lock the door of my hotel rooms from the inside. Doing so in this hotel is very difficult since the card that enables the electricity flow around the room and the door key are in the same key ring. Consequently, before locking the door from the inside we had to remove the card from its socket and then, in plain darkness, insert the key on the keyhole. Challenging. (See photo) - The trash can has four different colored partitions. Each one for a different type of trash but no information as to what kind of trash goes where. No problem if all the customers were children, since they learn it early at school, but do not expect elderly customers from different parts of the world to know it by heart (See photo) Breakfast is taken in a room on the main building. We found it to be varied, with tasty food and it also features local products. The hotel has no restaurant, so one has to go out for the main meals. There is only one restaurant within walking distance from the hotel. Having a rental car is mandatory. We would gladly return to this hotel on a next visit to S. Jorge, by the way the second most beautiful island (after Flores) in this archipelago.

Truly Amazing! We arrived late and they were there to greet us with no problem! Very accommodating to any of our needs, breakfast was excellent and made to order. I only wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy it!

We arrived late and were mildly chided for it, but the rest of our stay was fabulous. Despite our late ferry, we were greeted with drinks and pastries upon arrival. The room was well appointed and spotless, but the view of Mount Pico across the bay was incredible. Breakfast was wonderful. It is a gorgeous, new hotel with friendly, attentive staff and owners.

We loved this boutique hotel. It is full of charm and the location is perfect. Near the airport and the ideal gateway for the rest of the island. The staff is really friendly and helpful, we even got a free upgrade and a free late check-out! The rooms are really spacious and clean. The breakfast was delicious with a lot of choices. The infinity pool is another whauw to this nice hotel. The view from the pool is amazing, with clear view to the ocean and Pico mountain. Just whauw! Do not forget to enjoy the comfy lounge. You can find a lot of info on the island, watch tv or read your book quietely. We would recommend this hotel to every visitor in Sao Jorge!

Decoração moderna e bonita, com uma boa localização para explorar a ilha (perto de Velas). O Pedro da Recepção foi muito atencioso e deu óptimas sugestões para visitas, percursos e restaurantes. Bom pequeno almoço.

Absolutely amazing! New modern boutique hotel accommodations located in Urzelina - close to the airport. This hotel was a farm house that was recently renovated and opened as a boutique hotel run by a family. They are warm, friendly and accommodating people. The hotel, grounds and rooms are tastefully decorated, classic chic and clean. The hotel includes an infinity pool with views of the ocean and Pico mountain. Trip advisor indicates this is a 3 star hotel - I think it is higher class hotel than that! I strongly recommend this hotel when in São Jorge.

Quinta da Magnolia is a beautiful hotel with breathtaking views of the ocean and Pico across the water. It is modern, extremely comfortable, and the service provided by all was superb! The proximity of the hotel is also perfectly situated between all major cities but offers a quiet and peaceful stay. Added bonus: THAT POOL! While the hotel offers plenty of options for rentals, if you're seeking a premier hotel experience, look no further than Quinta da Magnolia before they book up!
