The Barn - Hostel

Hostel was amaizng. Very charming and scenic views. Easy to travel into local town of Vik. Close to black beach and all other attractions.

We stayed in a private bed/bath suite and it was amazing! Open and spacious room with great private bathroom. Easy parking on site and 5 mins from black sand beach.

Incredibly clean and incredibly accommodating, isolated for lights and all the views! Full bar, great parking! Comfy beds with a great curtain for privacy! Clean showers and bathrooms! Full kitchen, cannot say enough great things about this place!

Really enjoyed our nights at the Barn, for a hostel the conditions were amazing and it was great having such a good kitchen and dining space to use. Also handy for Vik town and standing out looking for Northern Lights.

The Barn was a very nice pod-style hostel. We stayed in a 6 Bed Dorm. They are double beds with a curtain to separate. The bed is quite comfy, albeit one more pillow would’ve been nice. A shelf within the bed pod would’ve been handy to put items such as phone and other night time essentials. There were a decent amount of toilets, showers, and sinks. There is a kitchen facility upstairs however I did not use it. Everything seemed fairly clean. One downside for me personally, is that you check in and are assigned your bed. But there is no key card or code to access the dorm room, and there are no lockers for your stuff. So you have to be very trusting. It was okay for us but bear that in mind if you have any valuables or are wary of leaving your belongings. There is an area with two hairdryers and a big mirror which is ideal for women getting ready. I would suggest however that they add better lighting to this area. The shower was fine and there are about eight. I would suggest they add in a shelf at the door for your clothing as there are only some hooks. It can get very noisy, we were in the bed nearest the door to the communal area, and some people do not shut the dorm room door fully (with pressure applied) and therefore everything could be heard from the common area and it was quite loud at times. Overall, I think this is a nice, modern hostel. We stayed for two nights, but I wouldn’t begrudge staying longer if you needed more time.

We thought the hostel was clean and convenient at an affordable price.

This is a great place to stay if you’re looking to stay by Reynisfjara Beach or Vic. The kitchen is very large with plenty of seatings and the beds very comfortable although I wish the top bunk wasn’t slanted because I kept hitting my head on it. Showers are clean, however are oddly located where you have to go past the lobby with all your belongings. Watch out for rocks on the driveway. Overall good value for what you pay

Staff was very brisk, but facilities were clean and accessible. Slippers should be sold on site for visitors without their own, or instructions prior to arrival should include a note to bring your own. Given the snowy conditions during my stay, the parking lots should have been cleared a bit for safety if nothing else. Otherwise, a pleasant stay. (Dress down a bit because the heat is turned up very high)

Great location to explore Vik and its gorgeous surroundings. A premium hostel, very clean with friendly staff. The kitchen, lobby, and bar are also very spacious and great to meet other travellers. Only minus was the out of order dishwasher in the kitchen. Otherwise, a great accomodation even for travellers looking to have their own private bedroom like us.
