The Barn - Hostel

Great stay, modern hostel with very nice kitchen and public areas

First time staying in a hostel, super clean and tidy. Everything is well kept, nicer than a lot of hotels we stayed in in Iceland. Felt save and other visitors were considerate in our shared room. The only complaint was the heat. The shared bunks have a curtain you pull to keep light out ( lights in the room are always on) but it makes the bunk insufferably hot. Great environment but wouldn’t stay there again based on that alone, woke up sweating throughout the night. A fan in each cubby would make a world of difference (the heat was completely off in the room)

This is a hostel but feels like a Scandinavian Lodge and is just gorgeous. Thoughtful design and very user friendly… easy access to black sand beach and just lovely vistas!

The property is in a great location. Very short drive to Vik, and the black sand beach, which also has a restaurant. It is also away from lights and we were able to see and get great pictures of the northern lights!! The design is modern and trendy. The bar has great drinks and snacks. Breakfast was delicious. I loved the feel like I was at a friends house hanging out. There are games, cards, books, etc available for use. There is a projection tv that had a soccer game on when we arrived. Lots of places to sit and hang out in the lobby. Room was very comfortable and quiet.

We stayed in a private room with a private bath at The Barn outside of Vik for 2 nights on our trip around the ring road in early October. The location is beautiful and is super close to Reynisfjara Beach. Great location for viewing the northern lights which we saw both nights we were there! It was a short drive into the town of Vik. This was our favorite hotel of our entire 2 week trip in Iceland and we would definitely stay there again!

Very remote. Enjoyed the fact it is so isolated, gives me a feeling of serenity. How it feels to be alone in iceland as I walk around the property without to fear for any predator wild animals. I would recommend it. Thank you!

This one our one Iceland stay we were kinda dreading as we were nervous about staying in a hostel with so many others. We were shocked by this beautiful place and wished we could've spent more nights here! Beds were very comfy and clean, bathrooms, showers, and sinks were all clean and designed especially for this type of stay. The kitchen was crowded, but appeared to be well stocked. No complaints - this place is clean and safe with respectful guests all trying to save a little money and explore this beautiful country!

We saw the northern lights outside of our room!! The room was wonderful and staff was very kind.

second floor had so many rooms, but only 2 bathroom to share. and they all have showers in the same room as the toilet. which means if 2 people are showering, you can't even use the bathroom on the same floor as your room. The sinks inside the 2 bathrooms and outside are all extremely small. This is for sharing. but their sink size is probably smaller than some of the hotel's sink that we had in our own room. The bathroom had no shampoo. not even conditioner. The room itself was tiny and slanted. on our 1 week trip in iceland, this hotel was the most not worth the money. we have paid like $100 less for something better in other area.

Stayed 2 nights here in a room with the private bathroom. It very well exceeded my expectations. Easy check in, kind staff, lovely bar. The locks/handles were confusing at first but I learned very fast! Location was great for me, I like being tucked away.. town is only about 7 min away. I was able to catch the northern lights here which was AMAZING. There’s plenty of parking but it can fill up quick at night even then I found a close spot so I have zero complaints. 10/10. Out of a week stay in Iceland I would say this was my favorite.
