The Barn - Hostel

This is the hostel that makes you want to be a solo traveler. The property was very nice, new, and had a modern feel. I'd love to come back and spend more time there!

Hostel had a nice little bar with a great happy hour. WiFi was a bit iffy in the apartment where we were staying.

This is an adorable hostel. Great kitchen area. We stayed in a private room with a shared bathroom which as adults we were a bit concerned about but ended up being no issue. The only issue was how loud the keys/doors are when people are coming and going from their rooms. Maybe if they are ever going to upgrade their door locking systems, make them quieter.

It is a big place so lots of people and the kitchen is busy and noisy. Not a down side but just what it is.

Beautiful hostel

Very clean space with everything you would need. Was glad there was an abundance of private showers and bathrooms to use. The dining and kitchen space was also great and spacious.

The location being right next to the black sand beach and an 8 minutes drive to Vík made this very convenient to end the day. The bunk beds to the shared bedroom were full-double in size and the thick curtains were nice to get some privacy and block light. Kitchen was equipped adequately. Everything was clean, no big complaints! A laundry room/service would’ve been nice, but there wasn’t one as far as I know.

We had a room with private bathroom, which the Barn doesn't even show on their own website. The room was nice, but the heating was turned off when we arrived. Once we figured out how to turn it on, it took long for the room to warm up. Other than that, it was a nice middle ground between the hostel and the luxury suites ("black beach suites").

Excellent location for a hostel. Didn't stay in the dorms, but the rooms punch way above their weight and exceeded expectations. Love the proximity to Vik & Reynisfjara beach.

We enjoyed our stay at The Barn. We spent a lot of our time in the common guest area due to some office work, and we found it quite pleasant. The shared bathrooms and showers were clean and well-maintained. However, the sleeping arrangements were a bit challenging for us, especially for me as I am not used to tight spaces. Despite this, we look forward to staying here again on our next trip to Iceland.
