Watch your account after your stay. They will try to charge you the $100 fee and hope you dont catch it. And Breakfast was nasty sausage

Pool was under construction- not notified but was too cold to use anyway

Zimmer war sauber, ruhige Anlage, Frühstück wie in jedem Motel. Wir waren auf Durchreise und somit für eine Nacht absolut ok.

The location is good the rooms were clean

The rooms are not that safe. There is a loud train all day all night right in back. The breakfast was terrible.

Clean room in farthest corner for no apparent reason

1) Clerk announced $35 pet fee at check-in; I said there wasn’t any mention of it when I booked, he said that’s because I booked on Booking.com, I said it just said pets welcome, he said that implies a fee, I said no it does not, he said that’s my responsibility, I said in any case $35 is the most I’ve been charged for 1 dog, was it this motel or corporate ? he said well it’s a range, I said what’s the range, he said I can’t tell you that then also announced a $100 damage hold on my card then gave me a full typed sheet of motel rules for pet stays- a full page written in a bizarre cutesy voice directed to the animal !- told me to initial in 5 places THEN TOOK IT. I said hey you just took away the rules, he said I need it, I said well I didn’t memorize it in 15 seconds while I was initialing stuff, he said well I have to keep it, I said well maybe you can print a copy for me your over-paying pet owner and add it to my bill. 2) the swimming pool was empty- completely unusable- in the morning a work crew started relining it w cement. What % of a FL motel/hotel attraction is a working pool during winter ? I’d say 20%…so I want my $35 back. It seems fair: did they lower prices while the pool is out ? No. So why would anyone pay for a non-working pool ? If the fee for my dog = 20% of bill then why not pool value ? I’d like $35 back…or I won’t be back (or my dog).

My brother and I chose this hotel because we were attending a Singing Christmas Tree in nearby Hobe Sound the first weekend of December. Best Western Downtown Stuart is a decent, older hotel. We were happy that it was pet-friendly. For this there was a $35 + tax upcharge and a $100 refundable deposit. We were disappointed that the pool was under construction and that we were not made aware of that during two phone calls to the hotel and a visit to the website before booking. However, they did allow us to use a nearby (2 miles) "sister hotel's" pool by a show of the room card. We did not partake of the free breakfast, preferring to eat at a charming local cafe, but the food was available had we wished to eat there. The beds are a bit hard but with a foam top. For me that was quite uncomfortable, however my brother was happy with the mattress. The service we received from the housekeeping staff and the morning staff on the front desk was friendly and kind.
