Great place to stay

The hotel is under construction for renovations. Lobby closed, plastic on the windows, some parts done, other parts not. Even with that aside, the hotel itself has a very strange layout making it tricky to find your way around. The bathroom was the smallest hotel bathroom I have ever seen. They had a rolling barn door because there was no way a regular door would work. While the bathroom was remodeled, the shower floor was stained or just looked gross.

Restaurant was closed and so was the bar because chef was sick! One of my Rooms was not showing up.

The staff was extremely friendly, and the room was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately, the exterior was being "redone" so when we returned to the hotel after being out for the day, the closest parking lot to the entry was closed. We had to enter on a lower level, and the elevator was malfunctioning, with a warning light and buzzer on. We reported this to the desk, but it was till not working in the morning. So, we had to carry our luggage several floors down.

This hotel has potential, but it isn't there yet. Despite advertising a restaurant and bar on their website, neither were available. We were meeting friends and the restaurant and bar were why we stayed here. The door to our room was difficult to open and shut. The exercise area looks good but one (of two) treadmills, the recumbent bike, and the elliptical weren't working. Half the parking lot was closed off for no apparent reason. To add insult to injury, one of the desk attendants told us the bar and restaurant were closed because the chief was sick. This is obviously not true. It is difficult to believe a hotel this size has only a single chief. Two bright spots stopped this from being a one star review. The first is the breakfast. It is much better than the free breakfast offered in many hotels. The second is Jennifer at the front desk. She spent time getting the room type I needed and was very pleasant to deal with. I stay at a Doubletree in San Antonio often. It's one of my favorite hotels. This hotel is more like a Motel 6 than the Doubletree in San Antonio. And another insult, the hotel had bottled water in the room for $3 a bottle. Considering the cost of this hotel and the lack of advertised services, this should have been complementary.

Restaurant was closed, bar was closed, carpet was disgusting and loose, room was musty, shower head was loose and spraying out of shower, bathtub drain stopper did not work, toilet seat was loose, fridge door would not close because it needed to be defrosted, pillows were beyond used and very uncomfortable, and could not charge phones reliably because outlets were loose, front desk staff not welcoming and seemed lost. Breakfast staff was very friendly and did a great at job, pool was excellent.

Breakfast should be included, not extra. Difficult to find things while under construction and the disabled parking was so far away, it was pointless Room was good and staff very helpful/ Will b nice when all the remodling is done.
