Courtyard Atlanta Decatur Downtown/Emory

We are just finishing a very comfortable four night stay at this hotel. We chose this hotel as we’ve stayed here before and it didn’t disappoint this time either. All staff we’ve encountered have been friendly and helpful. A special shout to Nicole at reception. So helpful and friendly. The room is fine. We swapped the comforter/quilt for a lighter blanket and slept well. Some of our pillows were firm enough to make my neck happy, while other pillows appealed to my husband’s preference for flat pillows. I did wish I had brought simple slippers with me to use in the room. The laminate flooring can be cold underfoot. We had a snack and drinks at the lobby bar one evening and were disappointed at the food being served on plastic. Fair enough if we were taking it to our room but the drinks were served in glass and the staff knew we were eating in the lobby. However service was attentive, the drinks were reasonable and the food good. We didn’t breakfast at the hotel, partly because we knew it was served on/in plastic and partly because we knew several of the local cafes had good breakfast offerings. The hotel is just a short walk from a range of eating places and the Marta station. We haven’t utilised the parking here so can’t comment on that. We visit family in Decatur regularly and are happy to use this hotel each time. Our experience several years ago with the Hampton Inn next door was not as good as the Courtyard.

The clerk that checked me in was very personable & caring. I asked for housekeeping everyday we were there. They were terrible. Our sheets weren’t changed in the 5 nights we were there. My bed wasn’t ever fully made, the other one was just thrown together 2 days in a row. The bathroom was never cleaned & towels one morning weren’t fully replaced nor the bag in the ice bucket. I had to get them from the front desk. Very disappointed in this Marriott. I could have saved a ton of money staying in a motel 8 with the same treatment I got from this Marriott.

Location. The young lady who checked me in was so sweet and accommodating.

The first room they checked me into had a broken TV and a stopped up sink in the bathroom After being asked to move, they put me in a second room. However, that room was directly above the downstairs restaurant which had loud booming, heavy bass music playing. Because the purpose of my trip was to get rest I knew I would not be able to get any rest with that Music playing until 10 PM. I went downstairs to request another room and they moved me a third time.

AC was not working properly. Issue was with multiple rooms. Another had toilet problems. Overall, hotel seemed outdated and tired.

This hotel is located in a great spot for easy access to all of Decatur's attractions. The rooms are spacious, and the common areas are comfortable. As noted in other reviews, this hotel fails to provide acceptable service. From the front desk to the housekeeping staff, the employees at this hotel appear to be poorly trained and couldn't care less about their guests. I've been a loyal Marriott customer for 25+ years, and this property does not reflect Marriott's standards. There is a Hampton Inn next door, and many other hotels in the area. Unless you have no other choice, stay somewhere else.
