Newport Marriott Hotel & Spa

As a Platinum Marriott member I am really disappointed. This hotel continually preys on summer crowds. The wait to check in is always 15-20 mins. They wouldn’t give me my Marriott points. They tacked on fees that were not explained up front. Again, I am on the road all the time in the NE. I religiously stay at Marriotts as I am a member and the product is usually great. I will never stay here again. This was my 7 th stay here. Awful.

Wonderful location in Newport. We had a harbor view which was delightful. The food was surprisingly good … exceeded expectations for hotel food. Servers in restaurant and bar were great. Valets were also great with one exception (see below).

The room was very expensive and when we arrived found that there was a $30 “destination fee.” There was some complicated explanation about how we’d get some of that back if we charged drinks and food to the room, which we did. But this was still an added expense. Charge what the room is worth and don’t surprise guests with added cost, particularly since this is not a resort with amenities like golf or tennis or even a pool. The person who brought our car around ($48/day charge) gave me the keys without a word and did not help us load the bags into the vehicle. I found this almost shocking … just walked back into the hotel.

We had a lovely stay at the Marriott Newport Hotel & Spa. I was initially apprehensive about the interior facing room and balcony, but quickly grew to appreciate how it all came together as part of the overall nautical theme. The lobby was beautiful and the location was perfect. I would gladly stay again.

Entrance has a stair case so it’s hard to maneuver with luggage right at the outset. Everything is a money grab. Despite being fairly overpriced, your stay does not even include basic internet. Basic internet has a costs and if you want to stream anything the costs goes all the way up to $22 per day. Shower heads were pointed straight at you so when you turn it on you’ll get soaked unless you move it. Just not what I was expecting out of a Marriott.

This hotel is located right next to the Bus terminal where the bus can take you directly to downtown Providence in 1 hour. It is a very large hotel located by the water. Spacious and comfortable room. Breakfast by the water is very relaxing. Easy walk to restaurants and entertainment like sailing etc. Free bikes to go around. About 30-45 minute walk to the mansions area.

Swinging chairs and spa were terrific. Id rather park my car and not go thru valet everytime i want to go somewhere

I just returned home two days ago from a long trip. One of my stops was the Newport Marriott Hotel and Spa. This is a great hotel with the best staff and a fantastic location. They all work so very hard and it shows. The highlight of our trip was getting some help from the Concierge, Meredith Reid. She is without a doubt the absolute best concierge I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. She was able to not only recommend but get same day reservations for us at two great restaurants and they did not disappoint. She told us where to get dessert (Kilwin's) and what houses we should really try to see along the Cliff Walks. She was right about everything she recommended. She told us to go to the Wild Horse Saloon as soon as they open, so we did, sat at the bar and toasted her brilliance. She knows so much about Newport and I think she knows everyone in town. She always remembered our names and wanted to know how we enjoyed everything. She is a people person and we were feeling the love. Thank you Meredith for being you.
