$51 a day to just park on property was quite insane as a paying guest. The rooms are not as nice as the photos made it out to be.

Chaotic lobby

The location is very convenient to Reagan Airport, downtown D.C. and Arlington Cemetery. There are numerous shops and restaurants within walking distance including a Whole Foods less than a block away and an always-packed local coffee house, Commonwealth Roasters, a block away. It’s not a great location for runners who do not know the area as the city blocks are short, sidewalks are crowded, and it’s surrounded by very busy streets and a highway. The hotel offers a shuttle service to/from the airport; however, you must sign up in advance and the online form would not accept my reservation (“reservation invalid”) so I had to cross my fingers and hope for a seat when I arrived and ask the desk clerk to reserve it for me when I departed. My room was clean and comfortable although the pillows were very soft. It had a fridge but no microwave. I did not eat at the restaurant but the meals served at our meetings were delicious. Customer service was excellent. My biggest gripe is that there was no secured (password protected) WiFi available, even for guests or conference attendees. I made sure to change all my passwords when I got home.

My room was scheduled to be ready no later than 4 PM on April 12. I left my luggage at 4:30 PM and headed into the District for dinner (it was my 60th birthday, cleaning up after a cross county flight would have been preferable. I received a text from the Doubletree at 7:16 PM indicating my room was ready. The airport shuttle scheduled indicated a departing shuttle at 2:35 PM. The shuttle arrived on property at 2:30 PM. I boarded. The driver returned at 2:50 PM and we left 15 minutes late without apology or explanation. I was the only passenger on the shuttle. Rather than asking if I’d prefer music, I got pretty loud Reggae on our trip to the airport. The rooms were very nice. The conference rooms were nice. The front desk staff was very professional.
