Winckley Stays

Couldn’t fault it. The room was well appointed, comfortable, spacious, warm and fresh. Lots of nice touches….milk and water in fridge, sweets on the table. Everything was tight and it is in a great location central, but near to Avenham and Miller parks

No welcoming staff, but the arrangements for checking in were fine. It may have felt a bit weird if it was late at night.

We stayed in The Den. Granted the booking details do say second floor room and no lift. That’s no problem for us, but what wasn’t made clear was the second flight of stairs are very narrow, very steep, very windy. There is no hand rail, and for this reason alone we wouldn’t choose that room again, The room was clean, bed comfortable, kitchenette basic but useful to have just for breakfasts. There seemed to be attention to aesthetics rather than basics. 2 hangers in the wardrobe, 1 teaspoon, 1 tumbler glass. There were a couple of fake plants which took up a lot of space in a small room, so the bistro table and chairs were in front of the electric log burner (which didn’t work). It hasn’t been designed with practicality in mind, the usual hunt for a socket to plug in a hairdryer near a mirror. It wasn’t awful, for 4 nights perfectly adequate, but the photos are slightly misleading! Winckley Square is central, an easy walk from Preston station and backing on to Avenham Park. It is also very quiet and there seemed to be available street parking every day, although we travelled by train. Aven restaurant is the ground floor of the building and is a fabulous Fine Dining experience. Locally there are plenty of eateries too. We would probably use Winckley Stays again but choose a ground or first floor room.

Everything was amazing

Great location by 2 parks in a quiet area of Preston we were only staying 1 night. Upgraded to the Bouquet Apartment which in itself was amazing and a good place to relax in for our short stay Clear self check in instructions too.

Unfortunately our sleep experience was very poor due to ongoing conversations going on in adjacent rooms throughout the early hours 2am to 4am. There were also people talking outside our window at 6am presumably popping out for a smoking break. We would return but probably to an apartment at the back of the property
