We loved the location and the staff were very friendly in every moment. We also loved the breakfast experience with local products.

The view on the lake is beautiful(if your room will have one, since upon arrival we were told that not all rooms have a view on the lake, which is not exactly what’s written in the description, which is vague and lets you assume that all rooms have a view) Breakfast is generous.

The attitude of the owner when faced with difficulties in his establishment: we have arrived at Albergo Diffuso on the 31st of December. Upon arrival we were informed that the owner’s brother was organizing a New Year party in the common spaces of the Albergo: we received no information about this beforehand. In our case, not knowing what stores were still open, we brought our own bottle of sparking wine, which we put in the kitchen’s fridge, that we were told we were allowed to use. A few minutes before midnight, we came to the kitchen to open the bottle and to toast together for the New Year, and while the owner’s brother was friendly enough to welcome us to the terrace to see the firecrackers, after we came back to the kitchen, one of the owner’s guests came and within a few minutes took both our glasses and emptied them in the sink, saying repeatedly that our wine is « garbage ». He even took the bottle, shaking it violently and attempting to throw it away too!! While this happened, none of the guests/owner’s brother came to ask him politely to calm down and since we were under complete schock we didn’t know how to act: we came to this beautiful place thinking we’d spend one of the most beautiful New Year’s of our lives, instead this was our reality. We went to our room immediately, had to take the bottle (or whatever remained of it) with us in the room, since we were afraid of what might have happened to it otherwise. The rooms have, as you might have understood from the description, no fridges. The next day, still in shock, we spoke to the lady who manages the place and told her the story, while her answer initially resumed to « oh he must have been drunk », « maybe he had good intentions but he didn’t know how to show it », same attitude was shown by the owner who said « it wasn’t my fault » and that « maybe it was a language communication problem because he didn’t speak French ».

The views of the lake are magnificent. This is a very unique and charming property, and the staff were very welcoming and accommodating.

Breakfast is outstanding! We had so much food we could not finish it. Everything was wonderful, cheeses, cakes, croissants Fresh squeezed orange juice. I haven't had a breakfast like that included in the stay in a very long time.

Hotel review What a stay! I don’t understand how this is only rated 2 stars. The communication was brilliant, before our arrival we received a message with all the information we needed to find the hotel. There were pictures to help navigate the new area which was extremely helpful. The host met us once we had parked and walked us to the hotel. She helped to check us in and gave us a tour of the hotel which included a wine cellar where you can help yourself to the wine (varying prices), a jacuzzi which you can book on the day as well as a museum of the grandmothers possessions. The grounds and view were stunning and we were able to enjoy them each morning as we sat on the terrace with our breakfast. The breakfast is also superb, local fresh pastries, bread, meats and cheese as well as the offering of eggs in different styles. The hosts remember everything and made us feel so at home as they laid our favourite table outside and came out with cappuccinos and asked if we were ready for our scrambled eggs. The hosts were also so informative with what to do and see during our time. They let us know about local markets as well as a handy tip for parking (any white bays are free but blue bays you need to pay for). I honestly couldn’t rate this place highly enough, we have told all of our friends and family about it as a must place to stay whilst you’re in Laglio. Como is about 20 minutes drive from the hotel. Their deli is about a 10 minute walk or 5 minute drive (lots of free parking) which I would definitely say is worth a visit. We went for a light dinner (complimentary meats and cheese with bread) Aperol spritz, meatballs and roasted potatoes. We then went back for a coffee in the morning after our breakfast and had the delicious apple tart with mascarpone cream which is definitely worth getting! A truly lovely place to stay and we’ll be back again.
