Mills House Charleston, Curio Collection by Hilton

The location was perfect for walking access to Great restaurants, exhibits, homes, historical sites, and shopping. From our room we could see the old city, the Bay, Church steeples, the Bridge, and more. The amenities and cleanliness were exceptional.

My wife were at the Mills House on the 2nd leg of our anniversary trip coming back to Charleston from Hilton Head. The room was nice, although we were hoping with my Diamond status we would have been put in something a bit nicer. Having the bathroom door right next to the bed was a bit of a disappointment. The cleanliness of the room was good although there was a contact lense and hair on the floor of the bathroom. The location of the hotel was incredible to be able to walk to everything was amazing. We would come back to this hotel again.

Aesthetic was nice, coffee and food was good.

We paid for a deluxe city view room and was put on level 3 in a small king room with a view of a car park and no city view. Went to reception and complained as we paid for the higher floor larger deluxe room with city view only to be told that our room was the correct one and made no effort to acknowledge our concern and ignored the fact that their website stated otherwise. As per their website and booking.com it clearly showed we were in-fact in the standard king which was smaller and no view but a dirty window and a car park. We sent details and evidence to booking.com and received a partial refund as the evidence provided we were in-fact lied to!. I was greatly disappointed in our stay as we travelled 48 hours from overseas for this experience and missed the magical views of this beautiful city.

Lovely property, great location, comfortable bed and great food at Iron Rose. Elevator (both at one point) was a bit annoying, but older properties have their challenges. All front facing employees were hospitable, friendly and on top of their game. Love seeing that as it made for an enjoyable 6 night stay.

Fabulousness everywhere from the rooms, to the location in Charleston, to the staff, to the restaurants and food. Just a lovely hotel. Treat yourself right and stay in at The Mills House.

Nice pool, kind staff (Donna!)

Elevators were broken so we had to lug our suitcases up and down the stairs to the fourth floor in my wedding dress, we were promised late checkout but then our key card stopped working.

Location

The elevators kept on breaking down. The common areas other than lobby area were untidy and dirty. All guests checking out had to use emergency stairs. Reception staff not sympathetic. And my case broke as a result

Working as a photographer during Charleston Wine + Food Festival at The Mills House Hotel was a reminder of why this property continues to remain such an iconic part of Charleston’s hospitality landscape. The atmosphere throughout the property felt warm, polished, and exceptionally welcoming, especially during a week where the city was filled with chefs, creatives, industry professionals, and visitors from all over. Despite the pace and volume of activity that naturally comes with Charleston Food and Wine, the staff remained gracious, attentive, and accommodating throughout the experience. What many people may not realize is how well The Mills House handles movement and guest flow during large-scale events. From a photographer’s perspective, that matters tremendously. The transitions between spaces felt smooth, the lighting throughout the property remained inviting and consistent, and the overall energy managed to feel both lively and intimate at the same time. The historic character of the hotel paired beautifully with the elevated atmosphere of the festival, creating an experience that felt distinctly Charleston, sophisticated, social, and effortlessly charming. For anyone visiting Charleston for weddings, culinary events, or luxury weekend experiences, The Mills House offers an environment that feels both timeless and welcoming in all the right ways.
