The staff was awesome and friendly.

The hotel is dated and old. It was clean but has no amenities. The breakfast was bad. The lack of coffee in the rooms was abysmal. And we were gouged on the price for staying when there was a football game. I did learn, though, to book earlier and stay someplace else.

Don't have a sign up stating there us an indoor pool when there is not! Very disappointed grandson.

The front desk staff was incredibly helpful. They did not have an elevator or a first floor room available so they helped carry our luggage up and down from our room. We were travelling with a 1 month old so the pack and play was heavy for us since they did not have infant cribs available at the hotel. The pool is indefinitely closed I think. I had trouble with the vending machines because the system would not take my card but eventually they did work. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Our AC/heater was quite loud but we turned it off as we did not need it and that solved the issue. We were in a room facing the highway which was a little loud but it did not stop us from sleeping. The grab and go breakfast was sufficient to meet our needs. Our stay was only one day and thw location between Des Moines and Boone was exactly what we needed.

The up keep looks like no one cares. Holes in the doors from damage and missing hooks. Half the light bulbs in the bathroom were burnt out and the heat lamp bulb was missing and the knob to turn it on removed. Weird stuff stuck to the bathtub.

The employees were courteous and accommodated our request for a new room because the one we were assigned smelled bad and the bathroom door would not close. The room reassignment was quick and the new room was fine. The continental breakfast was better than some others in the area at that price level.

The indoor pool was completely closed. To be fair, we were not going to use the pool anyway, but it is advertised as an amenity, and we only found out it was closed with a handwritten sign on the front door - after we had pre-paid non-refundable. Again, didn't matter to us, but that's bad service. Overall, things could be better maintained and cleaner.

The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The staff was freindly and courteous. The breakfast was good. The location was easy to get to. It was nice to have nearby restaurants and gas stations.

The room could have been cleaner. There was a good amount of dust on the lamp and cobwebs in the corner of the ceiling. The room definitely needs some maintenance. There must have been some sort of water leak in the ceiling judging by the water marks. Two of the electrical outlets only worked if you put the plugin in just a certain and way and were cracked. The bathroom was clean, but the heater in the ceiling didn't work, the hair dryer didn't work, and the door had been patched together with screws.
